Chapter 9

It took me by surprise and my eyes widened.

I was shocked this actually happened and I inadvertently tensed up.

The kiss was gentle, yet somewhat intoxicating.

I soon loosened up. I put my hands on his shoulders to steady myself, I felt like I could fall.

Almost as if reading my mind, Loki's grip on my waist tightened and he moved his hand to cup my neck. As he did so, I felt a small tingle against my skin.

His skin was kinda cold, so it was refreshing right now.

He pulled away as we heard a door.

He smiled as if he'd just accomplished something before disappearing in a puff of green smoke.

What the hell just happened?

I was so shocked by the whole thing I now actually felt tired and decided to head to bed.

For the next few days all I wanted to do was avoid him yet again, and avoid him I did.

Wanda probably already knew why, and I'm hoping she told Nat because this isn't a conversation I was willing to have right now.

Loki on the other hand, was strutting about like nothing had happened, and continued smirking at me when no one was looking.

I tried to act normal around the other guys, especially Bucky. I didn't want anyone asking questions I didn't want to answer.

I guess it was my own fault really. It was fun but I didn't expect him to just.... go back to normal.

I sighed to myself. I wasn't really paying attention to what everyone was watching and I just wanted to get some time alone.

"Hey I'm gonna go to bed early guys, I'll see you in the morning."

"Everything okay?"
Bucky asked.

"Yeah, I'm just exhausted after this week."
Even after saying that I could see the cocky smirk on Loki's face.

"No worries."
Bucky smiled and I headed to my room for some sleep.

*DREAM*

"Hello Darling."
I jumped up off the couch in response to Loki whispering in my ear.

"LOKI!"
I nearly screamed and he just laughed.
"Where the hell did you come from?!"

"You're so easy to frighten. It's quite cute actually."

"Yeah well I'd appreciate if you'd lay off on the terror."
I sighed and sat back down.

I could feel Loki bending down towards me again, his presence was overwhelming.

"Are you sure you actually want me to stop doing this?"
He whispered quietly with a husky tone and his breath fanned my neck. I shivered and placed my hand where his breath hit.

"Loki, what are you doing?"
I looked up at him with a slight annoyance.

"Testing the waters."
He smirked.

"Testing the waters? Wh-"

He cut me off by kissing me. He had one of his hands cupping my cheek while the other made its way down my body.

....

I abruptly woke up. Apparently sleep didn't help at all.

Why can I never seem to get him out my head? It's infuriating. He's infuriating!! I decided to give up on sleep and make my way to the roof instead.

I sat on the roof and sighed. I thought playing with the God of Mischief would be fun, but instead I've started to fall for him.

I'm acting like an idiot. He is the God of Mischief for crying out loud, he's probably just messing with me like I was with him. I'm going to end up making myself look like such a fool.

Of course he's messing with me. He saw how I reacted and tried to turn this into a game, so now he's just testing the waters to see how far he can take it.

Yeah, that must be it. Considering it was only after I decided to retaliate that he kissed me and acted like nothing had happened?

Nah. He was definitely messing with me and I refuse to let him get to me.

I laid down on the roof and looked up into the sky, the stars were especially bright tonight.

Staring up into the sky was almost instantly soothing. I began to calm and just breathe. The crisp night air was a soothing change from the constant heat.

I'm surprised I find the cold soothing, but it is.

I think I'd be able to stay here and breathe for a while.

.....

I'm sure I'd been up here for hours, everyone else is probably fast asleep by now.

I made my way back downstairs and into the kitchen for a glass of water.

As I turned the corner I was met with the face of Loki. He was leaning against the wall smirking at me.
"You've been avoiding me Darling."

"I have no idea what you're talking about."
And yet, almost as soon as those words left my lips I turned on my heel and made a beeline for my room. I quickly made my way inside and shut the door, locking it. I wanted to avoid this conversation.

"That wasn't very convincing."
The same voice chuckled beside me.

"What are you doing in my room?!"

"I had a feeling you'd run off so it wasn't really me in the kitchen."

"Ah yes, your famous party trick."
I rolled my eyes.
"Now please, get out of my room so I can sleep."

Loki grinned mischievously.
"No."

"N-no? What do you mean no?!"
Now he was starting to irritate me.

"I want you to answer me first."

"So if I answer your dumb question you'll leave me alone to sleep?"

"Maybe."

"Maybe?"
He just smiled in response to my question.
"Go on then."

"Why are you avoiding me?"

"I'm not."

"Oh, we both know that's a lie."
He stopped resting against the wall and started walking closer to me.

"It's not."

"But it is."
He kept walking closer so I decided to back off.

"It's n-not."
I stuttered as my back hit the wall, Loki's presence all but pinning me to it. Just like in my dream, his presence is overwhelming. Dominating even. Each time he did this it was like a predator stalking its prey.

And for some strange reason, I loved it.

"Now. Tell me the truth."

I couldn't find the words I wanted to say, or maybe I didn't even know what words I wanted to use. I opened my mouth but no words came out, while he was just stood there. Watching me intently with that damned sexy smirk.

"I.... well you see.... I...."
I thought I didn't want to let him get to me and yet....

"Go on."
He lowered his voice a bit.

"It's because.... well...."
My heart started pounding at the way he was eyeing me and I could feel the heat rush to my face.

"You look flustered Darling."

"I... well..."
My heart started to beat faster as I looked up at Loki, before I knew it the words fell out at such a fast pace I'd be surprised if he understood.
"Because it's exactly like last time you're teasing me and taunting me acting like you're about to kiss me then act like nothing happened and then kiss me an-"

Before I could even finish he crashed his lips onto mine and his hands hit the wall to steady himself.
