"when you told me a quote from my own book, i didn't expect you to have all three on your shelf."

i was shocked to say the least, tom had all three of my books placed next to each other in chronological order, in the middle of this bookshelf. the elegant binding and sleeve of the book stood out among the others.

tom appeared behind me, his arms around my stomach, his head leaning down onto my shoulder.

"i enjoyed them throughly, there were quite insightful." he spoke into my ear, his lips tickling the skin ever so slightly.

"well, sir, i'm glad i could please you." i was smug and i knew it. it's not everyday you walk into someone's house and see your own art work sat on their shelf, and not just one, but the whole collection.

"it is one of the best period fiction, i have read in a long time."

"so you read the whole series?!" i moved quickly, turning in his arms to face him. he smiled at me, and nodded his head.

"why yes, the first got me hooked, the second left me questioning, and the third, scratched that one place on my brain that nothing could reach."

"wow, you are extremely kind to me." i looked up at him with admiration in my eyes, could this man please me anymore if he tried?

i looked over the other collections he had on the case, multiple upon multiple stacks of plays, scripts and even shakespeare, a dash of jane austin, emily bronteë and lewis carroll. i was pleasantly surprised that we had the same taste in literature, but i didn't let it shock me too much.

"you've been starting at pride and prejudice for the past few minutes, love." he snapped me out of my trance, i turned to face him with a plotting smile on my face.

"can we watch the film?" i asked like a giddy child.

"it's about two hours long, maybe later? let's live for the rest of the day."

he made sense, why waste two hours watching a film when you could be living your life to the fullest.

i nodded my head and spoke to him, "okay, yeah, that makes a lot of sense." my tone was soft, uninterrupted.

"come on." he reached down for my hand and dragged me playfully out of the living room.
