I had been working for several hours, writing out reports on the expedition and for Levi's injury. I found it silly that I needed to write reports when the Military Police were already questioning the Scout's legitimacy for keeping a Titan-shifter in custody. Erwin had been called to the Capitol along with the remaining scout soldiers. Higher-ups are calling for custody of Eren to be turned over, despite Levi's display in the trial a couple of months ago.

The benefit of being labeled as a medic is the ability to lay low and not have a target on your head. Even though I've directly dealt with Eren, Hange felt I would be able to 'fly under the MP radar'. Evening fell upon the fortress some time ago and Erwin should be arriving soon.

I gathered up a few papers and made my way downstairs to the dining hall where we were to meet with Erwin. Upon my arrival, I saw Levi and Eren already waiting. Levi sat at the head of the table, sitting sideways in his chair with his elbow resting on the back. As usual, a teacup in his hand. Eren sat in his chair near the opposite end of Levi, fidgeting with his fingers in his lap.

"Gentlemen," I greeted, taking a seat by Levi near the head of the table.

I quietly began to look over my paperwork, laying them in neat piles in front of me. Reports containing expedition casualties and soldier injuries, medical inventory, and a specially requested report on Levi lay before me. I began to shift through each paper, checking over my work.

"Emily, how did you start working with Hange?" Eren asked me sheepishly.

I blinked and looked over at the boy. His emerald eyes stared at me. His mouth pulled back to a nervous smile. I couldn't tell if he was actually nervous or if he was just wanting to break the awkward silence in the room.

"Well," I sat back, looking up at the ceiling, "I joined the scouts a couple years ago. I had already been taking an interest in medicine, reading whatever book I could, observing the nurses in the infirmary... Then, during a particular expedition, a soldier was injured while fighting a Titan. He had a puncture wound in his leg. I jumped in and was able to stop the bleeding, saving his leg. Erwin saw what I did and put me on Hange's team. Eventually I kind of fell into the role of medic and to help her study the Titans and Titan-related injuries,"

I turned my gaze back to him, "though now that you're here, and after seeing as how you freakishly grew back your tooth in an instant, I'm sure she'd love to turn her focus on your healing powers and how we might be able to use that to our advantage for our current mission."

His eyes widened and he swallowed down a gulp.

"Tch, don't scare the brat," Levi chimed in, sipping his tea.

"S-So you're going to experiment on me too, then?" Eren asked.

"No," I smiled, "I'm not interested in Titans like Hange. I'm more interested in helping humans. If Hange needs my assistance, though, I'll always be there for them,"
