Spring was in bloom

Spring was in bloom. Wall Maria had been completely cleansed of any Titans for the first time in six years. Refugees of Shiganshina were allowed to to return home and rebuilding was well under way. Elevator lifts in Trost were opened to the public and a new road leading from Trost to Shiganshina was being paved by the hardworking citizens. New life was forming in the kingdom.

For the first time in six years, the Scout Regiment was given permission to resume expeditions to explore the world beyond the walls once again.

My horse freely galloped in the wide open field beside Hange and Levi. The warm spring air was blowing against my face, pushing my hair back. The first taste of freedom I've had in years. The smile on my lips felt permanently etched as we continued our path.

"It's just as you thought, Hange. Most of the Titans had already gone inside Wall Maria. We've all but wiped them out and it only took us a single year," Levi said.

"Then let's push straight forward, exactly as we'd planned," Hange replied.

I took in the scenery. This was the furthest I've been outside of the walls, even before Trost was attacked. The air was crisp and filled with morning dew. Levi and I would occasionally exchange glances along the way. For the first time in a while... I felt happy. Despite having learned that there's a whole other world outside of ours. We were a special race that the world hated. Then there's the information Eren told me...

---

"Lieutenant Emily... do you have a moment?" He asked.

I turned to him with a puzzled look, raising my brow, "Yes?"

"I wanted to speak to you in private."

We stood in the hallway outside the barracks mess hall. The chatter of soldiers echoed from inside the hall as we spoke, being muffled by the large doors.

"I saw you..." He murmured.

"Saw me?"

"I had visions... I saw things... and I saw you. I saw your past. What happened to your family..." I winced as he spoke, "I saw your future."

"Eren...?"

"He's alive. You won't run away from him forever. There's another you're going to have to protect."

My eyes widened and I let out a gasp. Is he talking about my father? Levi?

"I just... want you to live a long life," He said sullenly as he turned to walk away, entering the dining hall without another word.

I stood in silence. What did he mean by that?

The air suddenly changed and had a salty taste to it. Birds chirped and sung their songs above us. I stared up to the unfamiliar birds, taking in their white color and unique sounds they produced. The terrain was sandy, unlike anything I had ever seen before. Long stretches of brown sand that easily picked up with the wind. Ahead of us stood several small hills.
