Wake up...
...
Wake up.
...
WAKE UP!
'Ouch! My head really hurts! It's like I've been... I've been...'
The girl held her head as she started to get up and crossed her legs. Darkness was the only thing she saw before her eyes started to adjust in the dim lighting.
'What in the world happened? Where am I? Wherever in the world is this place?' she questioned herself as she looked around an empty room with no idea about anything that has happened.
She gathered up her strength and stood up to walk towards the door. While walking, she noticed crimson liquid on the floor.
'Is that... blood? Am I still dreaming?' she thought as she pinched herself.
She flinched when she did that. If she feels pain, then she is certainly not dreaming. There is something wrong with everything around. Maybe it was because she was kidnapped? But if she was, then why aren't there any ropes tying her or something that held her back?
As she opened the door, decapitated persons where lying on the ground. Upon seeing the sight, she tried not to scream.
'If I was kidnapped, then are they my captors? If so, then why are they headless? The blood seems to be fresh. Maybe something happened? Whatever it was, I have to escape.' she thought and shook her head.
The exit was not far as light emitted from outside. She ran towards it to escape from the place.
It was morning, so finding her way was not much of a problem, but she's still wondering why was she there in the first place. She had no memories of what happened before she woke up. While walking and trying to find a familiar place, thoughts were rushing to her head.
'What, who, when, where, why, how... I... oh dear Lord, please help me find my way...'
A bird chirped, making her snap out of her thoughts. Then, she saw a small familiar chapel that she always went to when she was a child to attend 'Flores de Mayo'. This made her feel more sturdy, so she went inside the chapel to say some prayers.
After praying, she went out and started walking again as she was felt familiarity.
'The road leads to a barangay, so I must be near my home.' she giggled.
While walking a few meters, she finally reached the barangay, but the feeling of familiarity faded as she saw the place.
'Ngaa?(Why?)'
She felt dread upon seeing the place. It was a happy and lively place that if you just stand there, you will smile because of the memories. But on what she saw, it was nothing like the place she once knew. This place was now gloomy and sad.
She ran from house to house, searching for anyone to be seen.
'Even the stray dogs are gone.' she thought as she ran away from the barangay.
'This is not right. I'm so confused. The people of the barangay won't just leave. And it didn't seem like it was hit by a typhoon. So, why?'
As she was running, she saw a 24-hour store, so she stopped.
'This place is always packed with people, but there are none. Something's really off. Plus, the cashier is not even here, but the lights are on. Eh, whatever. At least I'm not paying for anything. But it's bad to not pay.' she thought as she debated with herself while grabbing items and placing them in the cashier.
'You know what? I'm just going to the ukay-ukay next building.'
While entering the building, she saw a mirror, so she decided to check on her reflection.
'Why am I wearing a bloodied gown? Was I the one who slayed those persons. Pfft! That's absurd. As if. But what if I was the one who killed them? That doesn't make any sense at all! I have no memories of ending up in that place, well maybe except being attacked in our school and-' she stopped and resumed of thinking about it again, but she does not remember anything after that, except ending up in the strange place which she just escaped from just moments ago. Aside from that, nothing seems to ring a bell.
After choosing the clothes of her choice, she decided to just wear a plain black T-shirt and denim jeans.
'I still do not like to wear jeans...' she sighed.
She grabbed a backpack of her choice and placed some other clothes that she picked. She placed the items in the backpack, but upon opening the backpack, she saw a small first aid kit and a wallet.
'This wallet seems familiar...' she said as she reached for the wallet and opened it.
'Wait... why is my ID i- THIS I MY WALLET!' her eyes widened.
'My wallet isn't lost. It was stolen! But why? I definitely remember the day I lost, no, my wallet was stolen from me in school. I often keep it safe inside my bag. Then, when I opened my bag, I thought I misplaced it. My father got very angry at me and... Whoever that person was, I hope they will trip. No, I hope God will deal with them. Hmmpf!' she angrily thought and huffed her cheeks.
When she opened the other section which money was placed in, her eyes widened.
'There are fifty one thousand peso bills? I never got this amount of money. Usually I only have twenty peso bills in it. You know what? I take it back. I hope God blesses them.' the girl thought as she smiles.
After placing items in the bag, she paid the cashier, even though there was no one around. Then she went back to the 24-hour store to purchase the items she placed at the counter and also payed the cashier.
'I feel like a one-day millonaire. I shouldn't spend this much. I mean, I barely get any lunch money, well maybe only one hundred pesos a week, but still!' she debated with herself as she walked to her way home.
