The silence weighed heavily as the five of them ate, sat at the dining table they never used. Finally Zoë had had enough of the atmosphere so she decided to do something about it.

"So, Steve. Got any ideas on how to break the ice?" She asked, grinning at her own clever joke.

Luvich and Sam both burst into laughter while Steve smiled, grateful for the ease in tension that the joke had provided. "This meal is delicious ma'am" he complimented politely to Zoë's mother.

The woman gave a small smile back and nodded "Please, call me Claudia" she allowed.

Zoë smiled gratefully 'Thank you' she mouthed to her. Her mother nodded once more and continued to eat. "So Zoë tells us you're a military man" Sam said to Luvich after they had calmed down from their laughter.

Her uncle nodded, smiling "Served for 15 years in the army and special forces for another 5" he confirmed "you a fighter?" He asked.

Sam nodded "Pilot" he replied.

Zoë grinned "Oh uncle you're gonna be so jealous. You know that project file I sent you with the wing suit the US military was using?" She asked.

Luvich nodded before realising and looked back at Sam "No way! You fly one of those things?" He asked.

The rest of the evening passed a lot smoother after that, Luvich seemed to really like both Sam and Steve. Zoë's mother warmed up to them a lot quicker than she expected her to, it helped that Steve told them some fond stories about Dr Erskine.

"Alright well we've got a lot to do tomorrow, I'm gonna go to bed" Zoë excused as she stood. They had all been sat talking in the living room for the past few hours and it was getting late.

She pressed a kiss on her mother's cheek and waved to the others "Good night" she bid.

"Sleep well bärchen" Luvich wished.

"What he said" Sam chuckled.

Steve smiled fondly and nodded "See you in the morning, kid" he bid.

Zoë smiled and made her way into her room. She pulled off her clothes, walking into her en suite bathroom since hadn't yet had the chance to shower. There was a split second of indecision, she was very tired and wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed but there was also no way she was going to go to sleep feeling as gross as she did.

A satisfied sigh left her lips as the hot water cascaded upon her. She already felt tonnes better. As she was washing her blonde hair a familiar feeling tugged at her gut. The feeling she had when she was dreaming, with her green light. But... she was awake?

"Loki?" She asked, peaking out from behind the shower curtain. The bathroom was empty of course and she felt silly for even looking. "I must be losing my mind" she mumbled to herself as she rinsed the shampoo from her hair.

When she was finished she turned off the water, wrapped herself in a towel and stepped out of the shower. She opened the door joining the bathroom and her bedroom and almost fell back when she saw the strange man with black hair laying on her bed.

"I told you I'd see you soon" he greeted suavely.

That voice.

"Loki" she breathed.

The smile she had been longing to see ever since he had first spoken to her spread across his handsome face and she mirrored it. He stood and she ran into his open arms, having far more energy now then she had a moment ago. The embrace felt just like it had in her dreams only so much better "I thought you were a dream" she admitted "that you wouldn't come"
