It was a long and tiring day at work as the biggest fashion show Gigi worked on got the best of her. It was a nerve-wrecking opportunity which would have made or break the model's career, and that was why she couldn't wait for the day to be over. She was cleaning up and getting ready for the afterparty when she heard her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID painted a sweet smile on her face as she picked up the phone and answered with a sweet "hey."
"Hey, love. How was the fashion show?" The caring voice coming from the other line soothed all the nerves the tall model was feeling. She stared at herself in the mirror, making final retouches on her makeup as she filled in Crystal with the details of her day.
"It went amazing! I feel like I'm on a high right now but overall, it went great. While walking on the runway, I felt like my knees would break and I would slip but I didn't. Nicky loved how everyone worked really well today and I couldn't be more proud of myself." Gigi spoke really fast which made the red-haired woman laugh at the other end of the line.
"And I am so proud of you." Hearing those words was the validation she needed to keep moving forward. Tears started forming at the corner of her eyes as she bit on her lower lip in disbelief. She wasn't used to having someone tell her how great she did after an event. Before, it was either her mom or Alisha criticizing her after every show, pinpointing how she could have kept her shoulder higher or where she could've put her hands or how she could've looked more serious or whatever. But with Crystal by her side, it was a new world she wasn't used to.
She didn't believe it at first. "You're lying to me."
"Do I look like I'm lying?" Gigi heard from the other line just in time for her to notice the reflection behind her from the mirror. She saw the locks of red hair standing behind her, showing her a big smile as Crystal put down the phone call. "I am proud of you, Gigi."
"Baby!" The black-haired woman squealed as she wrapped her arms around Crystal's neck, pulling her into a tight hug. "You're here! I thought you couldn't come with me to the party."
"Why would I miss your biggest day?" Crystal landed a kiss on Gigi's cheek, making the other smile as they met eyes. "Oh, by the way, I got you something." The red-haired woman took a small jewelry box from her jacket pocket before handing it to Gigi. "I know you own a lot of silver and I think you could add this to your collection. I saw it on my way here and I couldn't not give it to you."
Gigi opened the small box to see a shiny charm bracelet with a small butterfly charm attached to it. She didn't expect anything to top off her amazing day but Crystal set the bar higher. The taller woman glanced at her lover and gave her the sweetest kiss on the lips before pulling away and staring at the bracelet. "This is so beautiful. Thank you so much, love."
"Not as beautiful as you though," Crystal mumbled as she tucked a lock of Gigi's hair behind her ear. The cheesy comment made the model roll her eyes as she slightly hit the red-haired woman's arm.
"That's cheesy," Gigi giggled as the woman pulled her by the waist and gave her another kiss before putting the bracelet on her wrist. "But this works really well with my outfit tonight, don't you think?" She said as she twirled around to show Crystal her dress for the party.
"Everything looks good on you." Crystal commented as she admired the beauty in front of her, the smile on her face not even fading away. Gigi noticed the woman looking at her like she was the sun lighting up her life, her mind reminding her how lucky she was with this woman by her side. It was the best days of her life and for the millionth time that year, she wished she didn't have to leave it all behind.
