We'll be fine

It was six hours after she ran away from the party when Crystal rode a cab going back to the stylist's place, only to find her sleeping on the couch with Pumpkin snuggling on her stomach. The muscles on her face softened at the view upon her, making her bite her lip as the guilt crept on the back of her mind, the guilt of just leaving Gigi all by herself after experiencing the exhausting time at the party when her ex showed up. She walkedw closer to the couch, taking a blanket they kept on the reclining chair before putting it over the stylist's figure. This gesture woke the woman up, her sleepy eyes widening as she gazed upon Crystal standing before her. "Um, hi. I'm sorry I woke you up." Unsure, the red-haired woman continued standing on the same spot, not moving so as to not startle the taller woman some more.

"Everyone was so worried about you," the stylist mumbled, finally getting out of her sleepy phase.

Crystal kept her eyes locked on the coffee table as she spoke, "And what did you tell them?" She bit her bottom lip worriedly as she waited for the answer. She wasn't sure why she was doubting her friends so much, but her mind just wouldn't let her think it would all turn out okay.

"Just that we're together... I didn't want to share anything before I asked you first." Gigi tried to catch Crystal's eyes, to look her in the eye but the red-haired woman just wouldn't let her yet. "Are you here for Pumpkin or do you want to talk about it?"

"Thank you," was the first thing the photographer could answer with. As much as something inside her wanted to despise Gigi, the woman before her kept showing how changed and respectful she was towards their relationship.

They finally locked eyes, and a shiver went down Crystal's spine after looking at Gigi's obviously tired ones. "You broke my heart, Crystal..." Gigi's shaky voice was the worst of it all, feeling like it echoed in the room as it filled the photographer's ears. "I don't know what else I can do to show how I feel for you... It's not that you don't believe me. It feels like you don't want to believe me."

"Gee..."

"It's not that I am asking you for anything else because baby, you've shown me a lot more than I could have ever asked for, but aren't I showing it enough? I thought I was expressing my feelings for you. Don't you trust me? Us?" Gigi ran her fingers through her black hair, taking a deep sigh before she continued, "I understand how everything is difficult for you right now, especially after the incident the other day. But trust me, please, our friends understand us. As I've said, they were more than worried about you. We were all scared when you ran off, I couldn't find you, you weren't answering your phone. I don't know what to d-"

"Gigi... I'm just here for Pumpkin." Crystal saw the black-haired woman's pleas turn into a frown and place on her tired-looking face, and as much as she regretted sounding so unaffected, she couldn't handle all of her emotions at the moment, "I think we need some time apart. I certainly do... I can't- I can't handle all of these at the same time. My head feels like it will explode any second."

As the photographer spoke with her eyes welling up already, Gigi felt hers fill involuntarily too, "Crys, I thought we were in this together..." She took a step forward, taking both Crystal's hands in hers, "I told you I wanted to be here for your doubts too... I know- I know what I did in the past isn't acceptable, but I thought I was showing how I was willing to change for you. It's all for you, to be with you."

"You are showing," the red-haired woman said softly as a tear streamed down her cheek. What hurt the most was to know they were both trying their best, but somehow Crystal still couldn't believe in them. She couldn't comprehend her own actions at that moment, her brain running at full speed to try to tell her she would get hurt again. "Gigi, I want to believe in us as much as you do. But I can't... Not right now. It's not something I can just make myself do."
