Chapter 14: Ashes

{Rons POV}

Awoken at 4:00am by screaming, I realized there was no scream. It was a nightmare. A nightmare I've been having for a couple months now. Almost every night and I can't control it. Every time it ends up in the same thing. My mothers death.

She would be happy by the beginning of the dream, but by the end of it she ends up screaming as she dissolves into a pile of ashes, and it might seem creepy and scary, which believe me it is. But I cannot figure out why this is happening. I was there the day she died yes, but she died long before the apocalypse. I've never told anyone how it happened... Mainly because I'm not that close to anyone to inform them about this.

{back to Connies POV}

Lately I've been noticing that Ron is sleep deprived. He falls asleep during the day a lot and wakes himself up with little jolts. I know something is bothering him, but OFCOURSE he's not going to tell me until I get it out of him. One way or another, I was going to... Again.

"Ron!", I shouted from the end of the hallways walking to his room, "in here?", I opened the door slightly and noticed him sleeping... Ofcourse... That's all he does lately. But it won't be long until he wakes himself up now.

I noticed him jolt and force himself up... There it is.

"You feeling okay?", I asked bending down.

"I'm...fine", he waved off between yawns.

"You know if something's bothering you..."

"Yeah, yeah, I know, "if something is bothering you don't hesitate to tell me, I'm here for you"", he mocked.

"Well I'm glad you remember my catch phrase", I state, "but you should take a nap. I don't like seeing you like this", I argued.

"I can't take a nap, I'll just wake up again...", he trailed off.

"Have you been having nightmares or something?", I ask, sitting on his bed.

He sits up gently and looks down at his hands "I have..."

"You can tell me what's wrong"

"No I don't think I can. Not yet atleast", he gets up.

"Ro-"

"No, no, I'm not ready to tell you, or anyone, can you please respect that?!", he interrupts and walks off.

This was going to be harder than last time...
