Chapter 17: And i see Fire

I was relieved that Ron had finally opened up to me. It felt like he was becoming closer. And I knew there were no such things as relationships in apocalyptic worlds. But I really wanted to build one with him.

"So, what's going on between you and Ronald?", asked Maria.

"What do you mean?", I looked at her from the corner of my eye.

"Well I've seen you go in his room a lot...", she trailed off

"Omg maria no", I choked, "nothing like that!"

"Uhu whatever you say...", she giggled.

"Leave the poor girl alone", Kiara smiled, "she's inloveeeee"

"Guys stop", I chuckled.

"But you can deny that you don't like Ron", she ginned.

"Mmm maybe I do, maybe I don't"

"Don't lie to yourself", Maria added.

"Please", I mocked, standing up and walking downstairs.

"FIRE! FIRE! EVERYONE OUT! FIRE!", Chadwick shouted.

I felt the heat go through me and turned to look at the massive fire brewing.

"OH SHIT! CONNIE LETS GO!", Ronald yelled carrying me outside.

Most of us got out... Most of us...

The fire was intensely red and managed to take down some trees around it. Tyler made it a priority to get out as many weapons as he could. Although we weren't completely hopeless, we all had made backpacks in case of emergency with supplies we might need incase of a run. Mine was safely out here, curtesy of Milo. Bless that boy.

My heart was beating loudly. I didn't know what to do. We were away from the fire already of course and we were walking down hill into the Forrest. All the zombies were attracted to the massive ball of fire that once was our shelter. Good news is we found alittle cabin next to a lake. That outta keep us safe for alittle while longer.

We all gathered around and sat on the floor of the cabin.

"So what now", Tyler spoke up.

"I have no idea", Ronald answered.

"We gotta find a new place to stay", Chadwick said

"But where. We lost some group members", Milo pointed out.

"We'll walk down the road, follow the train tracks, look for a house, do something. We have to find more shelter. We leave in 2 days, we can't move just yet. You all get rest. Some of you can sleep on the beds here, the rest on the floor. This cabin is big enough for the 8 of us. If we can take it, we can make it.", Chadwick trailed off. We all got up and found a spot to sleep on. I got the floor, and let Maria have the bed.

2:30am. I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. I stared at the ceiling and just now realized I was next to Ron. Not too close but we had some distance. I made my way towards him and positioned myself so that I was safely in his arms and fell asleep that was, hugging his waist.

Hey sorry I suck ass at updating lol I'll try harder next time. I felt like there needed to be some drama in the story right now so more to come later on.
