" Your guardian is going to be your mother, Helen Thermopolis. She is the one that lives in San Francisco, California."
" After your father passed away, we saw in his records that he married your mother, Helen Thermopolis, back at San Francisco, California, on Wednesday, August 24, 1988. However, something happened, and the two got divorced, with your father taking you in his custody while your mother took your younger twin sister in her care."
" I think your father lied to you."
" This folder contains proof that your father sadly lied to you all these years."
" I, Phillipe Gerard Renaldi, agree that if something were to happen to me. My ex-wife, Helen Amelia Thermopolis, would take custody of our daughter, Aurora Celeste Renaldi-Thermopolis. And she will get raised alongside her twin sister Amelia Mignonette Renaldi-Thermopolis."
Mrs. Johnson's voice and Phillipe's voice loudly spoke in Aurora's thoughts. Tears fell from Aurora's chocolate brown eyes as she blankly looked out the window of the airplane, which will take her to San Francisco, California.
Aurora wanted to scream her heart out, but she felt as though she was drowning. Her hands tightly grasped into fists. She could even feel her fingernails dug into the palm of her hands. She didn't even care or noticed if her hands were bleeding or not due to the pressure she feels from her father's death and the news of having a living mother and a twin sister.
' Why? Why would Dad lied to me?' Aurora asked herself, feeling and sounding confused and frustrated.
Aurora silently glanced at the two Social Workers sitting next to her and looking at their files.
' All of this must be a nightmare. No way, my Dad would die on my birthday of all days. I don't even have a Mom or a twin sister. My Mom died when I was a baby,' Aurora begins to deny what the two Social Workers told her.
However, Aurora thought it would be a good idea to pinch herself. She did and winced, causing her to sigh in defeat since the young female realized that she is awake and that her father is truly gone.
' I cannot believe all of this. Why would Dad lie to me about my mother-Helen and that I have a twin sister?' Aurora asked herself, feeling and sounding lost.
" Um," Aurora's voice softly calls out to Mrs. Johnson, who is sitting beside her.
" Yes?" Mrs. Johnson turns her gaze to Aurora.
" Does she-Does she know that I am-I am going to be living with her and her other child?" Aurora softly asked Mrs. Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson couldn't blame Aurora for not wanting to accept Helen as her mother since the poor girl believed that she didn't have a mother this whole time.
" The California Child Welfare Social Services have found your mother and contacted her. She will meet us at the California Child Welfare Social Services building," Mrs. Johnson calmly explained to Aurora.
Aurora nods her head, feeling awkward and uncomfortable with the idea of meeting a woman who turns out to be her mother.
" How long is this flight?" Aurora mumbled, feeling and sounding annoyed.
" I know it's uncomfortable. But the flight to San Francisco, California, is six hours," Mrs. Johnson informed Aurora.
Aurora's chocolate brown eyes widened as she stares at Mrs. Johnson in disbelief.
" I might as well go to sleep. Maybe I can fully wake up and come back to my real reality," Aurora sarcastically tells herself, which Mrs. Johnson heard.
Mrs. Johnson frowned as she watched Aurora make herself comfortable and then fall asleep by using her backpack as a pillow.
Six hours later, and a three-hour time difference from New York, the airplane safely arrived at the San Francisco International Airport.
The airplane landed and jolted, causing Aurora to wake up, and she tiredly stared at her surroundings. She frowned when she realized that she is still on the airplane and that her nightmare is authentic.
' God? Is this some sick punishment that I have to suffer because of Dad lying to me all these years?' Aurora asked herself as she silently watched passengers leave the airplane.
" What time is it?" Aurora asked the two Social Workers as they grabbed their belongings, and they begin to walk out of the airplane.
" It's noon," Mrs. Johnson informed Aurora.
Aurora sadly frowned since the day isn't over yet, which means it is still her birthday.
' I have a feeling my so-called mother must be annoyed that she has to pick me up instead of celebrating the birthday which I share with my so-called twin sister,' Aurora internally mumbled as she stepped out of the airplane with the two Social Workers.
Earlier at the Thermopolis's residence in San Francisco, California, a thirty-nine-year-old dark brown-haired and brown-eyed Helen Amelia Thermopolis couldn't believe what the California Child Welfare Social Services told her.
Helen hanged up the phone as she frantically looked at her surroundings, and she sighed in relief when she hears music playing in the background, which lets her know Mia is busy in her bedroom.
" Phillipe," Helen mumbled.
" Why did you have to die on the same day as Mia's birthday?" Helen asked herself as she sadly sighed since the California Child Welfare Social Services informed her that she needs to pick up her eldest child at their building since Phillipe put her name as the child's guardian.
" I might as well let Mia know that I have to celebrate her birthday a little later," Helen groaned since she didn't know how to explain the situation to her daughter, who she has been raising as an only child.
' Phillipe. Why did you put me as that child's guardian? Why didn't you put one of your royal relatives to raise her since you did say she will someday rule that kingdom of yours?' Helen asked herself as she puts the house phone away, and she begins to walk up the stairs to her daughter's bedroom.
' Because of you being dead, Mia will now know about this royal life. For sixteen years, I have been trying so hard to bury this information. Now, my gut is telling me that your mother-their grandmother would come to California to search for a new heir to rule her kingdom,' Helen worriedly tells herself.
Helen stops walking as she stands outside of her now sixteen-year-old daughter, Amelia 'Mia' Mignonette Renaldi-Thermopolis's bedroom.
Helen nervously grabs the door handle as she opens the door, and she looks forward, seeing her daughter, Mia, still wearing her school uniform since she got home from school. The young teen is also listening to music and playing with a cat that she gave her for her sixteenth birthday.
