CATHERINE got another week of night shifts, which Greg swore to take over. Another two hours of tormented questions and Catherine got them all right, which infuriated him even more.
"I hope Smethwyck will return full time soon, then we can actually learn something." Greg discarded his healer robe and plopped down on a chair in the healer's station. He stretched his arms out and yawned. "Are you sure you're staying in again? It's your six night Cathy."
"I'm sure."
"It's because of Malfoy isn't it? A month ago you would say yes without blinking."
"No I just don't want to get into trouble with Pye that's all."
Yes, that's all. She's sure.
"Well when your adrenaline runs out I shall be here to save the day." Greg grabbed his bag and coat. "What happened to him anyway? How did he get into a wreck?"
Catherine wanted to ask him that a few times, but she never did. It felt like she was invading his privacy and she wasn't sure which buttons were to press. He looked like he lived under all the secrets of the world. She slowly glanced at his direction. He was looking outside the window, whilst flicking his wand gently making beautiful narcissus flowers bloom in the air surrounding him, he did that often whenever he's alone. His mouth permanently turned upside down. She glanced at the food tray beside her noticing that he only took a few spoonfuls of herbal soup, his yam slices left untouched.
She stood up suddenly, startling Greg. "Can you stay here for a few minutes? I'm just going to grab some food downstairs real quick." without waiting for Greg to answer she turned on her heels and was already reaching the top of the stairs. Faintly hearing Greg shouting at her to cut the caffeine.

Greg hung his coat by the door. He made sure to put his scarf and socks in the laundry bin so that Gabby won't make a fuss about it. It was pretty late and the kids should be asleep by now. He ended up keeping Catherine company for a little while longer. In all honesty he was really worried about her.
"Honey, I'm home." he announced as he entered the kitchen, frowning when he found it empty. He walked to the kitchen counter finding a pot of garlic bread and tomato soup that Gabby must've left for him and he smiled.
Their house was small but comfortable. They lived with his parents for a few years after the war. Both didn't have any money to their name and with Greg being a new trainee healer, he wasn't making very much. After 2 years of saving up and a little help from his dad, he finally bought her dream home. A small two story house with white walls and a maroon tiled roof. It was his gift to Gabby for when she was pregnant with Grey.
"Greg..." she whispered with happy tears filling her eyes. "You made our dream come true." They were both standing outside the house just as Greg finalised the papers. He will never forget leaning in to kiss her on that day, feeling like the luckiest man in the world.
"No you were my dream Gabs. The house in my bonus, a bonus for making you happy." He said before leaning in to give her a hug.
Gabby insisted the interior walls be painted beige. She really likes pottery, so every corner was furnished with her very own handmade pottery decoration. Her pottery wheel and equipment in the backyard. He loved it when she bossed her around, sitting on a rocking chair while sporting her baby bump. He would never forget that, nor all the memories he cherished with her.
"Gabs?" He called out. He walked towards their small living room that was cluttered with freshly washed clothes. He found his wife soft asleep on the couch with her hands tucked behind her cheek, her mouth slightly opened apart. The telly was still on so he turned it off. He walked over and sat next to her, softly he brushed her cheek with his hand. The sight of her always made his heart melt with comfort. He could have an entire day filled with backlashes from Pye or a mountain of patients in his hands, but one look from Gabby will make him feel that all his hardwood is worth it. For her. For his family
