The first thought was... it's over.

Rubina suggested they take separate flights to go back home, after Rahul patiently calmed her down from having a complete meltdown.

Rahul didn't put up a fight but he didn't agree verbally to the idea either.

The picture in question was a blurry shot of them at the airport. Thankfully, the picture was taken from the back, so only Rubina's smiling face was visible, which was obviously turned towards him, when they were talking about the destination.

Rahul's face wasn't visible but it was obvious that the man sitting beside Rubina in that picture, was not her ex husband.

Unfortunately... the picture looked intimate.

Her fans on social media were busy trying to figure out who that guy was.

Some fans commented that she was travelling for some music video shoot and it was the director, others believed she was going on a holiday and was just talking to a fellow traveller.

But most of them believed that it was, in fact, her husband and media was just making a big deal out of nothing.

The fact that Rubina had kept the news of her separation from her ex husband, completely secret from the public and the media, was a whole can of worm which she really didn't want deal with right now.

One day for sure...  maybe sooner... she would have no choice but have to.

Rubina didn't want to lose Rahul, not now. Not when she's was just beginning to create new memories to replace those old, bitter ones.

Rahul's silence on the whole matter was so... unlike of him. If they were in BB14 right now, he would have already made some type of comment about the media or about her choice to keep the news of her separation a secret.

But this wasn't BB14. They weren't enemies anymore.

Truly, a lot has changed.

His current concern was zeroed down to making sure that Rubina made it to her home, safely.

Rahul wasn't giving her a cold shoulder per se, but his indifferent attitude towards the news was slowly conjuring up different conversations in Rubina's head. Each one worse than the last.

Such conversations were neither pleasant to be uttered nor be heard in this life...or ever.

_____________

In the end, they boarded the same plane.

As they sat side by side, counting the minutes till they made the landing, Rubina couldn't take the silence anymore. She looked at her right and saw Rahul had his eyes closed.

Maybe this was his way of telling Rubina that he didn't want to talk with her. Most probably thinking of ways to let her down, as painlessly as possible.

Or maybe... he was just tired.

Rubina didn't want to disturb Rahul and ruin his sleep but she also refused to do nothing either. Noticing his hand on the armrest, she carefully lifted his hand and slowly intertwined his fingers with hers.

She desperately longed for their eye contact but reprimanded herself with the truth that, beggars can't be choosers. So, instead, she held onto his hand tight and closed her own eyes.

Sleep never came but... anxiety took her to a new height.

__________

Its not that Rubina didn't want people to know about her and Rahul's relationship. In fact, if she could have it her way, she would have loved to scream it at the top of her lungs, to the whole world.
