§ V A L E N T I N A §
I was extremely tired all the time and I felt groggy and warm. My entire body felt like it was getting poked by needles. All of my bones hurt and I never really felt like moving. Oxygen tubes had to placed into my nose because I wasn't breathing properly. My throat and lungs felt raw and if I tried to breathe without the tubes, I wouldn't get enough air and then pass out.
I liked to rest with my eyes closed and just not think anything besides imagining myself in better situations. If only my wishes could be true.
Bandages were on my arms, legs and neck. In some areas the glass had cut so deep that I had gotten stitches. It was kind of funny, I expected Louis to be the next one to put me in intensive care, but instead, it was some random guy. Why did I constantly need to get attacked?
"--always sleeping, you can just go in and see her, she won't notice," I heard a voice say. I almost laughed because I knew that I would notice whoever was coming, but I kept my cover and stayed shut.
"I really wonder what happened, she looks like she's been through some serious śhit," a guy's voice said. Zayn?
"Louis told me that she was attacked, that's it," a girls voice said, that I immediately recognized as Perrie's. Of course Louis knew what happened to me.
"By who, though, it doesn't make sense," Zayn continued, his voice getting louder as he came nearer.
"You can't ask me that," Perrie replied.
"How is Louis not crying about this yet, he's obsessed with her," Zayn joked, laughing afterwards. I could swear my cheeks were heating up. Obviously I knew that Louis was a stalker, but hearing it come out of someone else was quite embarrassing.
I felt a hand touch one of my legs and run up to one of my bandages. It took everything so that I wouldn't move or wince.
"She landed on some broken glass, you know what happens when glass is around," I heard Perrie's voice say softly.
"I feel so bad, I wonder who attacked her," Perrie said. So did I.
"The question is, why?" Zayn informed Perrie. "Why did this guy break into the estate just to kill her? What's so important about her?"
I thought about it myself too.
It could be that the guy I met who (betrayed me) but could also create fire in his palm, and he wanted me back, or dead, for various reasons. It made sense since my ability seemed to be pretty rare, and also valuable to him and his men. Or maybe he didn't want me because he felt threatened or something. Basically, it was great that I had been able to kill the guy.
"Mmm, well why did you get kidnapped?" Perrie asked with a slight tease in her voice.
"Well, you obviously know why," Zayn said. "My body is—."
"Hi Zayn, hello Perrie," another voice said. I couldn't recognize who it was from, but my best guess was that it was the doctor.
"Louis, what are you doing here?" Zayn asked. Śhit, it was Louis.
"Just came to check up on Valentina's situation," Louis said. In the back of my mind I knew he wanted something else.
"We just checked on her, she's doing just fine," Perrie told him.
"Oh that's great, so you can go now, I'm just going to see her myself," I heard Louis say an I swear I śhit myself.
A long silence passed before someone started talking again.
"Valentina, I know you're awake."
How did he always know?!
"You can wake up now," he tried again. I really didn't feel like talking to him. The experience in the elevator shook me quite a bit.
My hair was moved out of my face and as a reflex I shut my eyes tighter.
"That movement with your eyes proves you're conscious," Louis' annoying voice said again. I decided that I couldn't take it, so I just turned over to the other side.
"Come on, we need to talk," Louis complained.
"It could have been REM, and now I think we've talked enough," I groaned, my voice cracking at the start. I hadn't used my throat to talk for quite a while and the walls of my throat were sand paper. I felt like ever since the incident in the elevator I could stand up to him more confidently. Louis' game was working, I was adjusting back to the luxurious life.
"Valentina, please, can you sit up and talk to me?" Louis begged. I wasn't quite believing it, but Louis was begging.
"No," I swiftly replied.
"God, do you have to be so difficult?" Louis asked.
I wanted to reply with a yes, but instead I leaned on my back and stuck a leg out of the blanket. I heard Louis sigh and tried my best to restrain myself from smirking.
A warm hand touched my arm and I jerked it away.
"I'm still in pain don't touch me," I lied. Truth be told, I actually liked it here in the hospital so I tried to make it seem like I still wasn't getting better. Actually, I was trying to stop being close to my luxuries because I knew as soon as I got attached, they would be taken from me.
"Look," Louis sighed. "I would like it if you just told me more about the night you got attacked."
"Don't you know enough already?" I asked, opening my eyes slightly to see Louis.
"I just wanna know what happened, how did it go?" Louis asked.
"He grabbed me from behind, I tried to fight back, next thing you know, were on the balcony, I got poisoned, I took a deck chair and killed him with it, then this happened," I replied, still keeping my eyes closed.
"Okay, so that guy, what did he look like?" Louis asked.
"Blond hair, blue eyes," I replied curtly. "Are we done? The guy's already dead I don't know why you want to know more about him."
"Since you seem to be in such an irritated mood, I'll leave you alone, I'll ask someone else to answer my questions," Louis sighed.
"Sounds great," I said as the corners of my mouth lifted up. My smile was meant for Louis so that he could realize how much I disliked him. How much I hated him for everything he did to me.
