§ V A L E N T I N A §

I lay upright in bed, watching a downloaded movie on my phone that I had seen before. A nurse had recently given me lunch and now the tray was on the table next to my bed. I was still eating the cookies I got.

Perrie and Zayn came everyday and I was beyond grateful. I had been in the hospital for an extra four days. Unlike last time, I didn't even need physical therapy, I just couldn't leave. I was actually allowed to walk around and be on my phone which made me more suspicious. Why couldn't I leave yet?

Suddenly my phone was taken away from my grasp and the audio in my earbuds muted.

"I was watching something, was that really necessary?" I asked rhetorically while taking my ear buds out. When I glanced up to who it was, my eyebrows drew together and I swung into a sitting position on the bed.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Hey to you too," Louis greeted with that damned smile and my phone in his hand.

"So what do you want?" I asked again.

He didn't answer at first. Instead, he proceeded to drag out his response by siting next to me on my bed. I moved a bit away from him as soon as he sat down. He was an aśs.

"I just thought it would be nice if we had a nice talk, you know, to loosen up the knots in our relationship," Louis replied.

"I don't think we ever had a relationship... We're not friends," I replied, stopping myself before I would say more.

"The tension between us is thicker than a red wood. I think that if I'm going to let you stay in my aid for a few years, we can at least get to be acquaintances," Louis explained. I knew I couldn't say no because then I would look like the asshole.

"Sure why not," I mumbled as I wiped the sweat of my palms onto my sweatpants.

"Good, now come on, I checked you out, we should go to your room," Louis said.

"M-my room?" I asked in slight shock. There was such a big mess, couldn't we stay in this hospital room or go anywhere but my room?

"Yeah is there anything wrong with that?" he asked as if he knew of my tenseness of going back to my room.

"No, there isn't," I replied with a sarcastic smile plastered all over my face.

"Good, let's go."

He stood up and I followed suit.

"I'm getting my phone back right?" I asked since my hands felt empty and jittery as we started to walk.

Louis handed me my phone while saying, "Just don't use it." So I was stuck walking with Louis. God, it was so awkward. I didn't really want to talk to him and I was sure he didn't have anything to say.

"Um, how was your day?" I asked kind of quietly as we stood in the elevator.

"Good," Louis replied. "Yours?"

"Good," I replied awkwardly. I didn't really know what to say after that.

The rest of the way to my room was just as awkward. I really didn't even know why Louis bothered to talk to me in the first place. His so called "obsession" over me that I overheard about was weird and unnecessary. I didn't even know why he bothered caring about an unstable girl who constantly got wound up in some sort of trouble.

We finally got to the door of my room and I felt strange about wether I would consider this a home or not. For me, home wasn't really where my heart was, it was where I lived. I didn't know if I should start calling my room "home".

Louis wrapped his fingers around the door handle and it flashed green, approving his fingerprint. Great, he could get into my room.

Like a gentleman, he held open the door for me and let me come in first. As I came back into my room I noticed that it had been cleaned. Previously, I had left clothes, shoes, scraps of paper and trash lying around the living room. Now the living room looked like what I had seen when I had come in here for the first time. The faint sent of lemon lingered in the room. Louis knew everything about what I liked, it was horrifying and creepy.

If the first part of my room was this clean I knew that the mess of glass and blood in the back must have been cleaned. I wondered how much the person who cleaned my room must have snooped. Not that I had much to offer to interest someone, but it seemed like this was the śhit happening to me now.

Louis had already sat down on the sofa with his feet up on the coffee table.

"Has weird stuff ever happened to you?" Louis asked.

"You've gotta be more specific than that," I replied as I sat down on an armchair adjacent to the sofa.

"Things that don't seem normal, things that you don't see humans doing," he explained.

"No," I replied, feeling bored.

"You sure?" Louis asked again.

"Yes," I replied, bitterness laced into it. God, why was he asking so much about such a useless subject?

"But really though, you stood almost no chance against that guy who attacked you, how did you save yourself?" he asked. So goddamn nosy.

"I used a metal chair," I replied.

"Did you use anything else?"

I didn't even bother replying to him, I just rolled my eyes.

"You've never had flames that burned in your very palm?" he asked.

I froze.

How did he know? Did the guy who knew about my powers tell him? How did he lean about the fire that I could magically create.

A shiver went down my spine as I tried to seen calm and undisturbed. As I bore into his blue eyes, I finally found the courage to lie straight through my teeth.
