Darkness. That's all there was. For how long? It was unknown. Uncertainty. Who was he? He did not know. Suddenly, after an unimaginable amount of time, there was light. Voices. Many voices. He was moved, yet he himself could not move. Something was laid over him. He could not see. He could only listen. He was placed in something. Darkness once more. He felt weightless, like he was flying. Then he was moved again and placed on something cold. The thing was lifted off of him. He could see somewhat, but his vision was blurry. Two figures stood on either side of him. One was a woman, he could easily tell. Though she was blurry, he knew she was beautiful. The other figure was a man who held a large blade and lowered it down to him. The woman gave a sharp command, her voice strong and powerful. The man instantly cowered and vanished. The woman leaned down and caressed his cheek. She spoke once more, her voice now gentle and kind. "Wake up... Wake up, my king... Wake up..."

Atem's eyes shot open and he gasped for breath. "That dream again?" He turned to see Mana, his childhood and best friend, holding a breakfast tray. Atem nodded. "Have you talked to Siamun about it?"

"No." Mana placed the tray on his lap.

"You should. He'll be able to tell you what it means." Atem nodded.

"I'll talk to him after midday worship." Mana nodded.

"Good. How many times have you had that dream?"

"Seven nights in a row, the same dream."

    "And  the woman?"

"Still blurry. She doesn't get clearer." Mana sat on the edge of the bed.

"What does she look like?" Atem recalled the dream. He could never forget.

"Beautiful. She has (hair length, hair color) hair, that's (poetic description) and (eye color) eyes that (poetic description). Her voice is gentle and kind, but can also be strong and commanding." Mana listened with wide eyes.

"She sounds like a goddess." Atem said nothing, remembering the dream vividly. "What did she do in the dream?"

"She protected me from a man with a blade. With one command, he vanished."

    "And then?"

"She touches me face and tells me to wake up."

    "And then?"

    "I wake up."

"And it's the same dream every time?" Atem nodded. Then, he remembered something.

"Actually, this time was slightly different."

    "How so?"

Usually she has long sleeves, but this time they were rolled up to her forearm. On the inside of her left wrist was a mark."

    "What did it look like?"

"...An ankh." Mana was silent for a moment.

"You mean... the symbol of life?" Atem nodded. Mana stood up.

"That's it. Eat your breakfast. You're going to talk to Siamun now."

        "But Mana-"

"No. Atem, please. This means something important, I just know it does. Please, trust me on this." Atem looked at his long childhood friend and sighed.

"You're right." Mana smiled. After he had eaten and gotten dressed, the two went to Siamun's room. The old man smiled at them when they entered.
