05: Future you, you don't remember

Eren POV

"Mr. Levi! I gotta go! It's my first day at high school and I don't wanna miss the bus!" I said as Levi still packed stuff in my backpack. "Sorry, uh....try not to get into drama or trouble, okay brat?" He asked. "Sure, I want to study hard so I can get my dad's hospital again. I remember you saying that he worked hard for it, so I'm going to do the same thing and become a doctor like him" I said.

"Just go, the bus should be coming any minute now" Mr. Levi said. "I'll be back after school to clean with you" I smiled.

"Armin! Why are you late?" I asked Armin as he ran up to me and Mikasa. "I overslept, I barley finished a school project!" He gasped for air. "Armin, it's the first day of school" Mikasa said. "Wha?! Then what did I work on last night?!" He yelled. "It's okay, you need to relax" I said. "Your right, it's just that I realized that I feel in love with my sisters friend" He blushed. "Is it Annie? You always talk about her" Asked Mikasa. "No! Why would you think that?!" Armin panicked and ran inside the building. "Maybe it's time for us to head to class Ereh"

"Yeah, your right Mikasa" I said walking inside with Mikasa. "Do you think Armin has a crush on his older sisters best friend?" She asked. "Maybe" I replied no paying much attention.

Why don't I remember? What did me and Mr. Levi promise to each other?

For some reason the word "love" would trigger me and make me blush for some reason. I would also think of Mr. Levi when I do that. Maybe it's a mental condition? I'm not sure.

"Ereh, aren't you listening?" Asked Mikasa. "What?! Sorry.....I'm just tired" I said. "Don't you say that you live with this man named Mr. Levi? Doesn't he take care of you?" She asked.

"No! Mr. Levi is extremely hard working and takes great care of me! Just like my mom and dad used to. Before they...." I said not finishing the last part. "Oh.....I'm sorry Eren" Mikasa said before walking into the classroom.

I decided to skip and call Mr. Levi to pick me up. I wanted nothing more than to hug him tightly.

"L-Levi....? Are you there?"

"Eren? What's wrong? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I just want to go see you....I thought about my parents.....about you...."

"Oh....alright, I'll pick you up in 5 minutes"

"Thanks Levi...."

"That's....the first time you called me by just my name...."

"Ha, I'm 16 years old, I wanted a change"

I waited for Levi when I noticed two men whom I didn't know walking towards me. I thought they were strange so I began walking away but they been walking faster. I got even more worried so I just ran.

They wouldn't stop chasing me.

I tripped and fell.

"Get. Away. From. Him" I heard a familiar voice. "Levi!" I yelled with joy. Seeing him gave me a strange feeling of butterflies but I couldn't explain it. The men didn't say a word, only looked at each other.

Levi ran up to them and punched them both as hard as he could on their stomachs. "Tch, if you touch him, I'll slit your throats in your sleep, understand?" He said grabbing them by their hair. "Y-Yes sir!" One of them yelled. "Now get out!" Levi yelled.

"Are you okay Eren?" He asked in concern as he was handing out his hand for me. I then realized in that moment when facing up to meet his bright grey eyes, that I fell in love with Levi....
