Friday, November 15th, 3:15 PM

It was mid-November and the last time (Name) saw Ray was back when they had lunch together, he was nowhere to be seen around the school. (Name) even put the effort to scour the school premises to try and find him, getting teased by her friends for being so in love with him. Even Corin started bringing up Ray's name to counter anything (Name) said, just for the fun of it. She may have developed a teensy tiny crush on the delinquent boy but she would never admit that to anyone, scared that exposing her feelings may cause Ray to stop talking to her. It made sense in her head, Ray didn't need a significant other to hold him back from what he wanted to do with his time so she shouldn't be pursuing him. (Name) decided it was best to not act out in an attempt to preserve the relationship she has with him.

After spending the past week searching for the absent boy, (Name) dejectedly gave up on her hunt and went back to living a school life without her new friend. In the end, she could only believe that he didn't hold up on his end of the promise. (Name) was sad about it, but she put the effort in. The only choice she had was to move on.

It was a sunny day for the month of November, so (Name) opted to take a detour from her usual route home. One of the benefits about her school was that there was a decently-sized shopping plaza and cafes a few bus stops down the road, many students often visited the place to treat themselves and hang out with friends. It was Friday and the weather was pleasantly crisp, so she decided why not? A nice refreshing drink was something that (Name) could use right now, she could already imagine her sipping the beverage a few minutes from now.

Unfortunately, she wasn't able to locate any of her friends so (Name) was on her own. She had looped around the school twice and messaged the group chat to try and locate them but to no avail. Getting ready to leave, she headed towards the south side doors where the closest bus stop going towards the plaza was located. Many students had already filtered out of the school, only a handful of kids here and there when she walked down the halls. Some stayed back to chill with friends while some of them had after school clubs, there wasn't a time her school wasn't buzzing animatedly.

She reached the end of the hall where the exits were when she spotted a familiar-looking boy sitting by one of the pillars, leaning against it for support while dozing off. Brightening up, she skipped over to where he was sitting and stopped next to him. Squatting down, (Name) looked at the serene look on his face, perfectly framed by his jet black bangs that loosely fell over his eyes like a blanket. It was different from his usual grimace that he shot at anyone and everyone that looked at him, he looked calm and unthreatening in (Name)'s eyes. He opened his eyes, startling the girl into falling onto her butt. "Hi hello! It seems that you're doing well, I'll get going now," she sputtered, scrambling to get back onto her feet. He grabbed onto her arm and dragged her back down, not hard enough to hurt her though. "Ah ah, thinking you could get away so easily. What do you think you were doing, hm?" he taunted, propping his arm on his knee and resting his chin onto his palm. His other hand was still holding her down so that she wouldn't try to escape again. (Name) avoided the question and decided to put him under the spotlight instead.

"And where have you been the past few weeks? What happened to our promise?"

"Why, you missed me?"

"Nope, no, of course not, never!"

"Mmm, alright then."

Sulking, (Name) readjusted her legs so that she was sitting crossed-legged next to him. "Where'd you run off to? I thought we promised to talk often," (Name) twiddled her thumbs in her lap, wondering whether or not he cared about that measly promise. Ray gaped at her saddened form and he felt his heart sting a little, he didn't like the idea of knowing that he was a cause of her misery. "I haven't been at school," he replied monotonously, raising a hand to give an apologetic pat on the head. (Name) scrunched her face up, "You shouldn't be skipping school so often, we'll be seniors next year. Grades are super important right now." He only chuckled at her adamance, finding it adorable that she kept looking out for him through and through. "There's still plenty of time, I think you're the one who needs a little break now and then," he shot back, knowing (Name) was a student who worked nonstop. "I can't believe I spent my time tryna find you," (Name) muttered under her breath, rubbing her face in exasperation. Ray picked up on what she said, a soft smile donning on his face. It was heartwarming to find out that she wanted to see him that badly that he forgot why he hated coming to school so much, there wasn't a single person that didn't get on his nerves in this building.
