Step 1: Gather idiot boys

Note: Wear something audacious. And eye-catching. xx

Adelaine stepped onto the school grounds, looking up at the two-story building in front of her. School had ended more than an hour ago but she was on a mission. For the past week, she had been doing research. Lots of it. Through her long list of connections, she managed to ask around and snuff out a group of people that fit her demands. A group of boys who were willing to do grunt work for a prize, that was all she needed. She had heard from a source of hers that the people she was finding were at the school, the one she was standing in front of. The school was starkly different from Adelaine's school, it looked much flatter. Although, the building spanned wider in length, making up for its short height. The school grounds were relatively deserted as all the students had already gone home, except for ones who stayed back for after school clubs and teams.

She checked her phone, reading the directions on how to navigate the school grounds. Fortunately for Adelaine, her destination was located on the outside of the school, right by a secluded entrance at the back. She started trekking to the side of the building to loop around, staying clear on the sidewalk so that the grass wouldn't ruin her flats. The snow that was present earlier in the week had begun thawing so Adelaine took the opportunity of clear sidewalks to wear something a little more fancy. There was another forecast of snow during the weekend so Adelaine was going to enjoy the snow-free weather while she could.

She'd been informed that the boys often lingered on the school grounds hours after school ended, hopefully, today wasn't any different. Otherwise, that would make her job ten times harder, she was treading on thin ice after all. If today didn't work out the way she had planned, she'd had to visit again the next time she was free. The school was a significant distance away from Adelaine's neighbourhood, it was a good twenty-minute drive to get there. Plus, negotiating and coordinating the plan with them would take another twenty minutes tops. This was all for the first part of the plan too. All that wasted time would not be good, time was ticking and she needed to be efficient.

After stealing another quick glance at her phone, Adelaine noticed a huddle of people standing around by the wall. Jackpot, Adelaine hesitantly approached the group to try and lower their guard. Yes, there were plenty of brainless oafs at her school who could've filled the position, though it would've caused too much suspicion. Adelaine didn't want Ray to find out what she was plotting in fear that he would hate her, though she was unaware that Ray already did feel that way. It was also quite foolish of Adelaine to think that Ray couldn't put two and two together and suspect her, even if she executed her plan perfectly. Coming up with such a plan and going through with it in an act of jealously was already wrong on so many levels. But whatever floated her boat.

As she stood about fifteen meters away from the idling boys—who still haven't noticed her yet—her conscience spoke up for the first time in a while. Adelaine, it said, don't you think you're taking it too far? Adelaine bit her lip apprehensively, it was true that her crush was starting to reach the border of an obsession and she knew it. Yet she couldn't understand, the one time she so desperately wanted something, desired for it, yearned for it, it was out of her grasp. Mere centimetres away from her fingertips, dangling in front of her like bait. She considered scrapping the idea she worked so hard to put together because deep down, she knew what the outcome would be. Stop holding yourself back, she thought, brushing off her second thoughts as last-minute nerves.
