A/N: The idea for this came to me when I was watching my biochemistry lecture so you know I had to stop what I was doing to write this, I hope you enjoy!

Warning: slight mention of blood/violence

You woke abruptly to the sound of a speeder loudly racing past your bedroom window, a normal early morning occurrence on the always active planet of Coruscant. The sunrise began to creep up on the horizon, the blinding rays forcing you to squint as you sat up. Looking over to the other side of your bed, you could make out the shape of where your boyfriend had been laying next to you, the dark sheets turning cold from the absence of his body heat. Pushing the large comforter off of your lower half, you walked into the bathroom to get ready for the day ahead, where you noticed a small piece of paper on the marble countertop.

Hey Doc,

Sorry to leave you alone in bed this morning, the Council called me to assist Obi-Wan on a mission to Geonosis. I love you and miss your beautiful face already.

See you soon,

Anakin

You chuckled at your boyfriend's use of the nickname he had given you the day you met, when he came to the Jedi Temple's Medical Bay with his upper body covered in gashes needing to be closed up, a task you were assigned to perform. You could remember the day vividly, even though it had been over two years since then.

"Alright General Skywalker, make sure you keep these patches on for the next 12 hours, and come back to see me if the condition of your wounds worsen" you said with a soft smile as you finished placing the last Bacta patch over a large gash on his toned back, trying not to make your crush on the Jedi Knight obvious.

"Thanks Doc" he replied with a charming smile as he stood from the hospital bed he had been sitting on, his eyes lingering on you as he approached the door. You turned your back to him and began cleaning up the medical supplies strewn across your workstation. Once you were finished, you turned to exit the room but were startled by the Jedi Knight who remained in the doorway, looking directly at you.

"Is there anything else, General Skywalker?" you asked, trying your best not to stutter as his deep blue eyes stared into yours.

"Yes. Call me Anakin." he said, and before you could respond, he backed out of the doorway shooting a wink at you.

From that day on, Anakin would constantly come to the Medical Bay unannounced, greeting you with a "Hey Doc" every time he barged in on whatever you happened to be working on. He would come up with excuses to come and see you, insisting that he had a paper cut or a stubbed toe only you could mend. You smiled to yourself at the memories of all the elaborate gestures he made to get closer to you as you continued getting ready for the day.

You arrived at the Medical Bay early that morning, and you were met with a simultaneous "Good Morning, Doctor L/N" from the droids and nurses that you worked alongside. Your days in the Medical Bay were relatively predictable, most of your days were spent fixing up small injuries acquired by clumsy younglings, or doing routine checkups on the older Jedi. Only on occasion did the dreaded alarm fill the Medical Bay, signaling that a patient in critical condition was on their way, a situation that never got easier for you in all your years of practicing medicine.

Today was no exception.

You were enjoying a conversation with your coworkers when the alarm began sounding, nearly making you drop the glass of water you were drinking from. You ran down the hall to the lobby, where a medical droid gave you the status of the situation.
