Walking into the party I am immediately hit with the strong smell of sweat and alcohol. At this point I am used to it.

Inside the door on the left is the open area used as a makeshift dance floor and behind that is the kitchen which is just as crowded because that is where the kegs are. On the right is a sitting room area where a bunch of people are sitting around either talking, drinking or making out.

Alex walks toward the kitchen and drags me with her to get a drink. We both grab a red plastic cup and fill them up with stale beer from the keg. I scan the crowd looking for Cooper, I recognise a few faces but his shaggy brown hair is nowhere to be found.

After standing in the kitchen drinking for a few minutes I decide it's time to dance. I loop my arm in Alex's so I don't lose her and we both walk towards the dance floor.

It is pretty packed and mostly filled with people grinding on each other but hey who am I to judge I mean we are in college you might as well have fun while you can. Whoever chose the music actually did a good job. The songs are danceable and the bass is booming through the floors.

I disregard everyone around me and start dancing. I close my eyes and throw my head back and start swaying my hips to the beat of the music.

I fucking love dancing. I don't dance professionally or anything but just putting on a good song and jumping around is just so therapeutic.

When the song ends and I'm done dancing in my little bubble I grab Alex's hands and we start dancing together. A mix of grinding up against each other and spinning each other around.

I have never felt as comfortable with anyone as I do with Alex, I genuinely do not know what I would do without her. We ended up as roommates as freshman and I wouldn't trade her for the world. At first it honestly didn't seem like we had a lot in common but after a week or two we got more comfortable and it turns out we just fit together.

A large pair of hands grab my waist and fucking scare me, I spin around as fast as I can ready to punch a douchebag in the face. As soon as I turn around I am faced with Cooper and his stupid grin.

"Jesus Coop you scared the shit out of me I was ready to punch you."

"That was the point Dani." he says as he starts to dance with me, keeping his hands on my hips and pushing up against me.

"How long have you been here?'' he asks into my ear.

"Not too long, just about 20 minutes. What about you?"

"Oh I was here around an hour ago but a feisty blonde caught my eye almost the minute I got here so I was a bit busy until a couple minutes ago." he winks at me.

I go to punch his chest "I did not need to hear that."

"Are you sure? It was really hot, you would have loved it." I swear that smirk is permanently on his face.

"I'm sure, I don't need any nightmares thanks." I reply with my own smirk as the song ends I turn around to look for Alex.

She seemed pretty distracted by a tall guy who looked like a football player to me. They were dancing together and he was whispering some things in her ear and by the look on her face I probably didn't want to know what he was saying.

I catch her eye and I point to the sitting room. She seems to know what I meant because she nods and turns back to her guy. I'm not too worried about her. I know she can handle herself and we both have our phones but I didn't want her to freak out if she turned around and I wasn't there.
