Clay ushered them inside. The three friends didn't hesitate.
"Clay? What are you doing here?" Toby asked.
"That isn't important, now sit down." He demanded.
The room had several couches and only a few dim lights on the side. You could see with out problem, but it felt... different. Not even the same as Mr. Jschlatt's room beside this one.
They sat down on some of the couches and waited for Clay to speak. Tommy couldn't help but notice that Ranboo seemed worried. Not his normal worried though. It was... something else.
What is going on?
"Why did you call us here?" Tommy questioned, slightly annoyed.
Clay sighed. He didn't say anything for a while. It was ominous.
"Look... today at lunch I saw you all acting strange and I decided to figure out why. So, when you were asking Wilbur for help I might have been listening. Something about a... dream... that Ranboo had?" Clay told them.
Ranboo twitched. Tommy wanted to ask what was wrong. Why was he acting this way around Clay?
-Ranboo's mind-
His voice... it's like... it's like..! Dream's!? No no no no no no no... no... no... n... o..?
His vision clouded and he spaced out. Even the way that Clay had said "Dream" was the same.
It's not him, it can't be! Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh... please no!
Ranboo didn't notice that Clay pulled out a notebook or that he had begun reading it. He didn't realize that Tommy and Toby were staring at Clay intensely or that Clay was reading what was inside. He didn't think about how Clay had the very same notebook he had written in or that his friends were now unresponsive and quiet.
"Ranboo." Clay broke his trance.
Ranboo blinked and looked around. Tommy and Toby sat there without moving or talking. They weren't responding to anything that was happening.
Ranboo turned his gaze back to Clay.
"What did you do?" He asked.
Clay laughed.
They laugh the same too... not Clay's normal wheezing either.
"Really? We laugh the same? Oh that's because... I guess you'll forget about all of this anyways. Ranboo, we laugh the same because we are the same." Clay told him.
Ranboo's eyes widened. His heart sped up. Clay was Dream. How had he not realized this before?
"H... how? Wait then what..? Ahhhhh!" Ranboo tried to run out of the room.
He tried opening the door with as much force as he could. The doorknob turned but the door didn't open. He tried again, and again, and again.
"Calm down Ranboo! I was joking! You're sleeping." Clay said.
Ranboo turned around. Clay was gone, not anywhere in sight. His voice echoed through Ranboo's mind like it was a big room with a high ceiling. Ranboo felt light headed and dizzy. His friends were gone, too. No one was there but him.
"Wake up. You're friends are getting worried!" Clay laughed.
No... their voices are different. Slightly, but still different. So then why am I asleep..?
Ranboo tried to speak, scream, anything vocal. Nothing happened...
Why can I never speak when he's around? Let me talk! LET ME TALK! LET ME-
-Wake up Ranboo-
Ranboo opened his eyes and saw his friends kneeling beside him. His head was pounding and he felt the throbing pain of a headache. He tried to stand but his knees were too weak.
"Ranboo?" Toby's worried voice sounded beside him.
He turned his head to see. Tears were forming in his friend's eyes.
"Toby? What happened..?" Ranboo asked, still feeling like he had fallen down a flight of stairs.
Toby and Tommy both sighed with relief at the same time with the same tone. Tommy helped him to his feet and brought him back to the couch.
"Wait... where did Clay go?" Ranboo wondered out loud.
"He went to get a first aid kit I think." Tommy replied.
Ranboo closed his eyes and tried to think.
So that was all just a dream? How was I even asleep in the first place?
Clay entered the room carrying a red box with the medical symbol on it.
"Oh, he's awake!" Clay sounded surprised yet happy.
He walked over to the group and sat down in front of them.
"So Ranboo, how do you feel?" Clay questioned.
Ranboo wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but he told the truth anyways.
"Uh... confused? What even happened?" He answered.
Toby got ready to explain their side of the story.
"You were just sitting there, listening, then out of nowhere you just got up and tried to leave you looked scared but... your eyes were unfocused. We tried to get you attention, but you kept trying to leave. Clay hadn't even said anything, he was just passing on a message from someone. When you realized that you couldn't leave you went to the other corner of the room and sat down with your knees up to your chest. You kept mumbling something about "dream" and you kept saying "no no no no no no" over and over again. Clay got worried and ran to get a first aid kit or something." Toby finished, breathing heavily.
Ranboo turned his head down.
"That... that was really just a dream... then how..." He tried to figure out how he had even fallen asleep in the first place.
The four of them sat in silence for a while. The school day was almost over anyways, there was no point in going to class.
"Well, if you're really okay I'll just go then. Oh and if you were wondering, someone just said that they had found a notebook you had written in and wanted to give it back." Clay handed Ranboo's notebook to him.
Ranboo thanked him and stood up. Tommy and Toby stood up too. Together, they left the room and the office. Once they were outside the school, the bell rang. They had a bit of extra time while they waited for the bus, so they talked about the minecraft world and all the thing they were going to do.
"This is gonna be so fun!" Toby jumped up and down with enthusiasm.
They walked onto their bus and went home.
