Here's Chapter 9! This is a chapter that I consider really getting the ball rolling for this story. After this, everything just goes at a downhill slope...of course, that's the plan, anyways.
Please, let me know what you think. This is one of my favorite stories that I'm writing, but it's not my most popular. Please, please let me know. I need this feeback to know whether to continue on with this project (on Wattpad, I will still continue to write it outside of the website) or to post one of my many other books that have not been added to the site.
Please, let me know.

Chapter 9
“So what, am I just supposed to show up to your practice today and just volunteer my services?” I ask Kyler, shutting my locker with a bang. I turn to him and hike my backpack higher up my shoulder. “I don’t need to fill out any forms or anything like that?”
“Nope.” He juts his chin and we walk down the hallway together.
“Good because I honestly have no idea what I’m doing, anyways.”
“Hey, you know more than all of our last managers combined,” Kyler tells me as he opens the front door of the school for me. “You know soccer and you know how to keep control of a bunch of teenage boys.”
I grin, but it comes out as more of a grimace as I hunker down in my light jacket against the cold win. “Yeah, I guess.”
“No, you know,” Kyler says jokingly, bumping his shoulder against mine. We make our way across the parking lot towards the football, now soccer field, people calling out to Kyler as we walk, but only getting a wave or a small “hey” in return from him.
“Does it ever get old?”
Kyler looks down at me. “What do you mean?”
I tip my head towards the group of guys and girls who just passed us and shouted out to Kyler that they were “super excited to see him play in the upcoming season”. “Does the popularity, everyone knowing who you are and your business, does it get old?”
Kyler sighs and stops by the entrance to the stadium. He looks across the parking lot, deep in thought. “Honestly? I don’t really consider myself a super popular guy. I don’t let any of my personal business interfere with school, I don’t get into a lot of trouble, and my only real friends that I actually like hanging out with are Jackson and Chase.” He stops though, looking a bit surprised by a thought. He turns and bumps my elbow. “Well, and now you and Macy, I guess.”
I can’t help it. A giant grin slowly spreads across my face. Kyler’s just too much of a good guy; you can’t help but wanna hug him like he’s a giant, cuddly teddy bear. “Well, thanks. We consider you guys friends, too.”
Kyler smirks. “Oh? Did I just hear Layla inadvertently announce that she’s friends with Jackson Manning?”
I laugh and push his arm, obviously not getting anywhere because of his thick-as-hell arms, and open up the gate to the stadium, walking down the steps with Kyler behind me, laughing. “Oh shut up, you jerk! I said no such thing!”
“Oh come on, Layla,” Kyler says through a laugh, following me across the concrete and towards the other side of the stadium where the locker rooms are. “You and I both know that you don’t hate Jackson anymore.”
