Feel free to hate me for taking so long to update this. I literally had the whole chapter and just couldn't figure out to end it so I set it aside for a while...and a while turned into a REALLY freaking long time. Anywho, here it is!
Be prepared; the next chapter will be worth the wait; most of it's already been written :)

"You said they wouldn't be home until late," I hiss.
"Jackson?" a women's voice calls. "Where are you honey?"
"In the kitchen," Jackson calls back, giving me a look when I hit him on the shoulder. "What?" he whispers at me, rubbing his arm. "It's just my parents and sister, not the freaking Royal Family. You can say hi real quick and then I can drop you off at home, okay?"
"No, but I-"
"Jackson!" a little girl screeches. She's got long blonde hair and that's the only thing I see as she races past me and jumps onto a waiting Jackson.
"Hey Emmy," Jackson says through a laugh, catching his sister and standing up straight with her in his arms. "How was Dr. Monica? Did she have good news?"
"Great news!" his little sister chirps, throwing her arms around her older brother's neck. "I've been getting better a lot faster than she thought I would."
"That's great," Jackson says, smiling like that news is the best news he's gotten all year. He then turns to me and nods his head in my direction. "Hey Emmy, I want you to meet my friend, Layla."
The little girl turns slightly in her brother's arms and I can't help but smile. Her little cherub face is framed with wavy blonde hair and she has the bluest eyes. She leans out of her brother's arms and extends a small hand towards me.
"Hi," she says, looking at me curiously before grinning. "I'm Emilie."
"I'm Layla," I say softly, shaking the small little hand. I glance over at Jackson who's smiling at the both of us. He gives me a slight nod of encouragement. I turn back towards his little sister and smile, although it might not be as big as hers. "How's your day been?"
"Pretty good," she replies causally, letting go of my hand. She hits lightly at Jackson's arm until he sets her down and then she walks over to their little breakfast nook. She takes her little jean jacket off and hangs it over the back of one of the chairs before plopping down and folding her leg underneath her. "We got a lot done. How was yours?"
I glance over at Jackson with wide eyes and a slow smile forming. He just grins and shakes his head as he leans on the counter. I look back over at Emilie and fully smile as I walk over and take a seat next to her. "Well, it was okay. I helped Jackson out with a few things, so it's time for me to go home."
"You brought someone else home and they're not going to stay for dinner either?" Emilie wails, glaring at her brother as she folds her arms across her chest. "I never get to hang out with your friends, Jackson!"
Jackson frowns and stands up straight. "Hey, Em that's not true. You get to hang out with Chase and Kyler all the time."
"They don't count," she replies with a pout. "They basically live here anyways."
"Well, why don't you ask my friend to stay for dinner?"
I glance over at Jackson, terrified. "Oh, no Jackson I-"
