For the first time since I moved, I woke up due to my own free will. The house was quiet, there wasn't anyone watching me sleep, and as I started walking out of my room, I realized no one was home.

I slowly start walking back up to my room and check my phone. I read through a few random notifications and then slipped on a hoodie. I notice I had a few texts from Brick.

Brick: miss you

Brick: girls are at a pageant

Brick: come over when u wake up

I quickly text him back a good morning and then tell him I'll come over soon. I walk into the bathroom and turn the shower on. Thank god Dixie and my mom are not home today. I have had the most peaceful morning I could have ever had. I am surprised that they never told me about it though.

I quickly take a shower and change into a pair of jeans and a hoodie. I dry my hair and leave it down Once I am fully ready and grab my keys and head out the door.

The drive was short and by the time I pulled up, Brick was outside his house.

"Hey," He smiles, opening my car door for me.

"What a gentlemen," I laugh a little getting out. He pecks my lips and then we walk inside his house. "So, what are we doing?"

"Well. I'll give you options," He starts off by saying. "We have my house alone for at least another three hours, so we can stay here, go get food, or, we could go to the pageant. My mom wants me too, but I really don't want to but maybe it could be fun if you are with me. Make it bearable,"

"I don't mind," I reply laughing a little. He calms down a little before smiling at me. "You drive though,"

Brick drove us down the highway for what felt like days. In reality it was only a few hours. We didn't talk much after the first thirty minutes. He gave my aux and I played some music for the rest of the way. We reached Alabama after about 3 and a half hours which was a lot better than I thought. I was exhausted by the time we got there and I was shocked to see that he wasn't.

"Ready to go?" He asks opening my door for me. I give him a lazy smile and hop out of the car. He laughs a little at how tired I am and we start walking into the hotel.

Immediately I notice girls running around with fancy dresses and full makeup, usually with an adult running after that them. I can hear screams and cries and I look at Brick.

"Where do we go?" I ask him.

Brick takes my hand in his and starts walking to the front desk. He asks the receptionist a few questions, but I wasn't really paying any attention. After a few minutes of him talking he pulls me in another direction.

"It's another mother-daughter pageant and again Patty and my mom wanna do it together. Which I have no idea why but I think it was more Patty than my mom," Bricks says as we finally get to a quiet hotel room.

"So you got a room. Why?" I ask him.

"No way I am driving another three hours home today. Plus, it could be fun," He smiles. I roll my eyes and he starts talking about the pageant.

Apparently murders are common at these events and they usually all lead back to Patty. It is usually whoever it up against her which in this case it would be Magnolia or Dixie or any of the other random girls.

But Brick was more concerned about his mom.

Although all the evidence usually leads to Patty, some how she always has a good alibi to get her out of everything. And the blame falls on whoever she chooses. Brick thinks it will be his mom this time especially considering she is trying to get back at Brick and she hates Coralee.
