One Month Later..

"Dixie! Where did you put my-" I get cut off by something hitting my head. "Lacrosse balls," I finish quietly. I roll my eyes and pick up the ball she threw at my head.

I put the ball in my bag and stand up. I thought a month with my mom would be good enough, but I was wrong.

"Eliza! If you don't come down in five seconds I'm driving to school without you!" I hear the obnoxious screams coming from downstairs.

"I'm coming!" I scream back. I slip on a pair of shoes and grab my backpack and lacrosse bag before heading downstairs.

I ignore my mom and Dixie as I walk outside and into the yellow car. The ride was short and quiet which was new for my sister.

As soon as she parked, she ran out of the car and to some random asian guy. I grab my two bags and get out of the car.

I walk into the school and head to my locker. Hoping no one will stop me or talk to me at all.

I'm half way there when I trip over a shoelace.

"Fuck," I mumble to myself. I sit on the floor for a second soaking in what just happened.

"Need a hand?" I hear someone say. I look up and see the blonde kid from Magnolia's sleepover. Brick Armstrong.

Without my consent, he grabs my lacrosse bag and helps me up to my feet. I swing my backpack around my shoulders and smile at him.

"Wow, she smiles," He laughs.

"And I was going to say thank you until you opened your mouth," I laugh.

He laughs a little and I notice him lick his lips and then run his hands through his hair.

"Guess I ruined my chance at seeing you be a decent human," He laughs. I laugh a little and shake my head. "Let me walk with you to your locker," He says still holding my other bag.

We walk together in silence until we get to the blue locker. I open it and Brick places the white lacrosse bag and stick into it.

"You play?" He asks.

"Yeah," I respond. "Ever since I was six,"

"Same with me and wrestling," He says.

"No wonder you are mister popular here," I laugh a little, teasing him. He laughs a pushes my shoulder lightly.

It was nice to talk to him. Was. As in past tense. As soon as the laughing stopped, someone stood behind him.

"Come on babe, Mags and Christian are waiting for us," The devil herself smile at Brick and throws a wink at me.

I roll my eyes as she pushes her boyfriend back.

"Listen Sinclair. Brick is my boyfriend so back off," Patty warns. I put my hands up in defense, laughing a little.

"Ok mom," I laugh. She glares at me before taking a deep breath and walking away. I knew girls back home in California were brutal.

But paegent girls don't play.

I brush it off and head to my first class of the day. Gym. In my gym class I have Patty, Nonnie, Christian, and Brick.

Nonnie is Patty's gay best friend. She kinda gives off weird vibes but who am I to judge.

I just wish there was anyone else in this class. I usually end up talking to no one and being a bit of a loner.

Patty gives off major resting bitch face vibes, Nonnie's weird, Christian's a dick, and Brick is Patty's boyfriend.

"Eliza, why don't you change over here? After all, we are kinda friends now," I hear someone say I as I walk into the locker room.

I look up and see Patty standing there with Nonnie. How does she change emotions so fast?

I ignore it again, and change next to them. I feel eyes on my body from the minute I take my shirt off the the second I slip my gym shoes on.

"Wow, you are perfect," Patty says.

"Thanks, but you have a way nicer body than me," I laugh a little. "You are comparing an A to a D. And in this case, D's win," I laugh. Patty and Nonnie laugh with me and Patty looks at her boobs.

"I was lucky with one thing at least," She laughs. I laugh with her and then we all walk into the gym. athe first thing we had to do was run a few laps.

Which was easy to me. Seemed fine to Patty too. Nonnie was the only one who seemed annoyed and mad at it.

I start running along side Patty. I look up and see a blonde running in front of me. He picks up speed with each lap he takes and his sweat glistened in the gym lights.

The next thing I know, is I somehow end up on the floor again. I look up and see Patty running over to me.

"Oh no! Are you okay?" I can feel her fakeness from a mile away. I roll my eyes and sit up.

"Eliza, you good?" I look to my other side and see Brick. I take his hand and he helps me up hust to spite her.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Must have tripped on a shoelace," I lie, looking directly at Patty. She fake laughs and I look at Brick. Patty walks away and I stay there with Brick for another minute.

"You know, keep falling like that and you might end up falling for me," He winks. I freeze for a second, taking in his cocky words.

"Ok Armstrong, But don't you have a girlfriend?" I laugh. He laughs and looks down.

"Right, let's just keep running," He laughs. I laugh and we get back on the track to run.
