It had been another boring strategy meeting. Aloha tuned most of it out, he knew his fellow teammates would drop the plan if something went awry. They always won no matter what.
The pink inkling was scrolling on his phone, when he noticed that Army had left his coat-one different than his parka- over his chair and was now out the door, manual in hand.
Aloha raised an eyebrow-he never saw this coat before-and picked it up. The fabric felt a bit like seal skin, which he knew due to working with seals as a volunteer aquarium worker (Aloha worked with the seals, and whenever he returned he noticed the one that liked him the most, Kina, swam up to the glass to ay hi). It was soft and smooth, like a soft leather. It even looked a bit like seal skin, shades of grey with black spots. It was odd.
He shrugged and carefully folded it, and set it in a bag carefully and headed out the door himself, knowing the way to the S4 house by heart from anywhere in the city.
As he arrived, he opened the door and smiled. "Hey, Army? You left your coat at the café!"
Army lifted his head from his book, taking out an earbud. "I did?"
Aloha nodded and took the coat out of the bag. "It's pretty fresh, actually. You'll need to tell me where you got one!"
The octoling smiled and took it from Aloha with...was that a small blush? "Thank you, Aloha." Army said. "And, before you ask, my mother gave it to me the night I left the valley. I don't know where she got it."
Aloha nodded, understandingly.
He decided the blush was nothing to worry about.

Over the next week, Army acted... a bit strange. He was a bit more affectionate to Aloha, leaning his head on his shoulder constantly, holding his hand... the works. Aloha wasn't complaining; affection from his crush? Hell yes!
Still, it was odd. And it all started when Aloha had returned the coat to Army.
It all came together at a beach day. Army had taken to wearing his coat over his swimsuit-the seal coat-and sitting on a towel while the rest of the team was in the water most of the time. Well, at least while Aloha was in the water, Skull often went to the boardwalk to get snacks and ice cream, and Mask only got in the sea for real when Aloha dragged him in.
As Aloha was showing off with his surfing, he noticed Army fiddling with something. Or the pink inkling was making it up.
Later, as the sun was going down, Aloha was just sitting on a rock by the shore, away from the crowds. Mainly cause he hated people asking about his surgery scars. Or the looks he got from Karens and whatever the male equivalent was called.
"...Aloha?" Army asked, walking up behind him.
Aloha turned around, and smiled. "Hey, Arm. Everything alright?"
The octo nodded. "...Just wanted to give you something." He sat next to Aloha and pulled out a velvet box. Aloha raised an eyebrow as Army opened it to show a beautiful silver and gold ring, with an ocean-blue gem.
"...Is this an engagement ring?" Aloha asked.
Again, Army nodded. "I...I just thought we'd ought to get married by inkling customs as well."
Aloha's eyes widened in shock. "I'm sorry, w-what?"
"...I suppose it'd be easier to show you, wouldn't it?" Army asked. Without waiting for an answer from Aloha, he pulled the hood of his sealskin coat up and stepped into the ocean before getting waist-deep, and diving in fully only for a seal to jump out of the water almost happily, his pelt shades of grey with specks of black.
The inkling watched in wonder as his, apparently, selkie husband scooted up to him on the shore, before turning back into the gorgeous orange octoling. "...Woah.."
Army smiled. "...I should have told you earlier love, I'm sorry." He sat down next to Aloha. "But, if you are to return a selkie's lost skin, it basically means you're married to them. I'm not really complaining, though." He layed his head on Aloha's shoulder, watching the sunset.
Aloha wraps an arm around Army's shoulders, bringing him closer. "Neither am I, Mimi. Neither am I..."
"So...that's a yes?"
The inkling nodded. "It's a little sudden, but yeah, it is."
Again, Army smiled. "Good. I don't feel like sharing my husband anyways."
