"You guys having fun back there?" I asked looking back at my babies. Indigo wasn't paying me any mind while he stared out the window. Marz nodded her head quietly and went back to zoning out.

I was gone make it my destiny to build a relationship with my kids. We were strangers and that made me sad. My kids didn't know anything about me other than what Luca or Milo told them.

As we waited for Luca to finish filling up the car with gas, I tried to think of something to say. Just to get to know them but I had nothing.

"Wh- what do you guys like to eat?" I asked.

Indigo continued to stare out the window, Marz looked over at me with excitement.

"Bon bons!" She exclaimed.

"What's that?" I asked, happy I got somewhere with one of them.

"It's like a candy." Indigo answered out of the blue. "Our favorite."

"Would you like any?" I asked. "I could buy you some."

"Sure!" They exclaimed in unison.

Suddenly, Luca came back in the car. "Y'all ready?"

I nodded my head, facing forward. Then he pulled out of the gas station.

"Where are we going now?" I asked.

"This lil diner the kids like. It's American style. The closest thing they have to the states besides...you."

"Is the food good? I could go for a burger."

"Yeah. They got your favorite too. The one that comes with bacon and pickles on the side. Also the steak fries you like." He responded.

"You remembered after all this time?" I asked.

"Duh."

I turned back to look at the kids. "What do you guys like eating?"

"I like spaghetti and meat balls." Indigo answered.

Marz went after him. "I like french fries and fish sticks."

"Mmm that sounds good." I smiled. "I like all the foods you like too. What are your favorite desserts?"

"Ice cream!" They answered in unison.

I dropped my jaw acting fake surprised. "Y'all like ice cream?! I love ice cream too!"

"You do?!" Marz exclaimed.

"Yup. What flavors do you guys like?"

"I like chocolate with brownies." She answered.

"I like vanilla with brownies." Indigo answered.

"Okay so how bout I get you guys your own sundae's. You like that idea?" I asked.

"Yes!" They responded in unison.

Turning back in my seat, I couldn't help but smile. Even with this small interaction, I felt happy me and my kids connected on some level.
