"Where's daddy?" Marz questioned, climbing into my bed and sitting next to me. She laid her head on my shoulder, completely snatching my phone from my hand and playing the games I had on there.I furrowed my brows, more confused than ever. "I- shouldn't you be asleep right now? You have school tomorrow."
"I don't like school." She complained.
"Me neither." Indigo huffed, climbing in bed on the opposite side of Marz.
"I- what are you two doing up?"
Marz shrugged her shoulders. "Daddy hasn't come home yet. Usually he's here to tell me and Indy stories about the other realm."
I took a deep breath, trying not to think about the fact that Luca hadn't been home. It somewhat worried me. And the fact that I hadn't heard from him since this afternoon, made me tense.
Taking my phone from Marz, I got up outta bed and gestured for the kids to follow me. Then I walked passed their room and led them into the living room. This way we could all sit and wait for Luca together.
"Are we in trouble?" Indigo asked me.
"No papa." I chuckled, rustling his curls.
Sitting on the couch, Marz and Indigo sat on my right and my left. They each rested their heads on my shoulders, finding a comfortable position to sit in. I proceeded to take the remote and turn on a movie all 3 of us could enjoy.
There was no point in getting upset that they couldn't sleep for the same exact reason I couldn't. Luca hadn't been home and it wasn't like him to stay out this late without any contact.
He was gone get it from me when he decided he did want to walk up in here. I promise I was gone let him have it. But of course eventually calming down because he sweet talked me into it. We'd discuss not staying out so late and he'd respect my feelings. He'd tell me about his day, I'd tell him about mine and we'd go about the night like this never happened.
And I'll say about 25 to 30 minutes into this movie, he ended up walking through the door just like I predicted he would. He had the biggest smile on his face as he walked into living room, looking down at his phone.
He carried a bag of my favorite take out place that reminded me of Cane's chicken back in the states. That was his 'I'm sorry' gesture whenever he knew he fucked up.
"Oh." He spoke, realizing that me and the kids were sitting in the living room.
"DADDY!" Marz exclaimed, jumping up from the couch and giving her dad the tightest hug.
Indigo followed behind him but after he hugged him, he started playfully beating him up. Something I wanted to do for real.
"What y'all luh people doin up? I know ya moms ain't lettin you stay up fa real."
"I was. Just until you decided to show up. They were worried so imagine how I felt." I scoffed.
He sucked his lips in, nodding his head. He knew he was wrong so he couldn't put up a fight. "Give me a minute. Kids. Come on."
Putting the food down in front of me, he left the living room with the kids. And I'd say about 15 minutes later he came out of their room and walked back into the living room.
"Aight. They asleep now. I figured I owe you an explanation." He sighed, sitting down on the couch next to me.
"Damn fuckin right. Where the fuck were you Luca? You could've at least called me bro. Had all of us worried. I been texting and calling since this afternoon and you never replied. I get that you're busy and all but-"
