You stood in the large changing room staring at the three dresses in front of you. You and Rose decided to go to a luxurious dress store to find the perfect outfit for Julia's birthday party. Slow ambient music played as you shimmied your body into the first gown. It was floor length and emerald green. The sleeves sat just off your shoulders with some excess material hanging down The skirt was softly pleated and the metallic green glittered under the spotlights. It was beautiful, the colour suited your skin perfectly. You tried on the other gowns, a tight fitting red beaded one and a fishtail black one, but your heart was set on the green.
You stood out of the changing room slightly and gave Rose a twirl.
"That's the one." She beamed, covering her hands with her mouth in excitement.
Rose had chosen a deep crimson ball gown, that touched just below her knees, she looked like a princess.
"Now we just need to find some masks." You said, admiring yourself in the gigantic mirror.
You went with Rose to a designer fancy dress store and went through the shelves of diligently designed masquerade masks. Each one was handcrafted, covered in gems and feathers, all completely individual. The store manager helped you both to find a mask that matched the colour of your gowns.
The assistant handed you a mask, helping you tie it behind your head for you. It was stunning, a sparkling deep emerald colour, embroidered with black lace and various gemstones. You felt mysterious and sexy wearing it, you didn't want to take it off.
After a day of shopping you were satisfied with your choices, only a mear $8,000 later. You were glad that you could claim these expensive items through the business. Money wasn't a problem, you wanted to fit in with the other esteemed guests, you wanted to be seen as an equal, not just a wedding planner who was invited out of pity.
...
You spent the remainder of the week running up to the masked ball working tirelessly. You wanted to be ahead of your schedule so you could relax the day after the party, knowing full well you would be hungover. You spent a day at a wedding of a famous architect and his painfully narcissistic wife, it was beyond stressful. As she was getting into her wedding dress, she decided that she was making a mistake, that she couldn't go through with it, all because the acrylic nail on her pinky finger fell off. Luckily you carried a small kit bag around with you for, emergencies, like this one. You glued her nail back on and she looked at you in disbelief, you held back a laugh, how could she have never used nail glue before. You shook your head behind her back and the rest of the ceremony went through without a hitch. Apart from her father getting blackout drunk and misreading most of his speech, but that was out of your control.
Once the wedding was over you made a quick get away and went back to your apartment. You sat down, another basic tv dinner, another bottle of red wine and a boring tv show. The only difference was this time, you sat and thought about Ben. How he reacted to you so coldly when he saw you in his office, how his mood fluctuated when you tried to leave. Did he feel the same strange attachment? You thought about how he touched you, so expertly, making you howl for him, how he consumed your mind with such ease. The more you sat and thought of him, the more you wanted him again. He was slowly infecting your mind with lust and desire. The space between your thighs growing wet and needy.
You walked up to your bedroom and stripped off your clothes. You grabbed your breasts and hardened nipples, squeezing them gently, imagining Ben's hands on you. You reached over to your bedside cabinet, pulling out your small pink vibrator. You turned it on, a low hum filling your bedroom. You bought the device to your clit, moving it around in small circles, allowing your back to arch and your eyes closed in bliss.
"Oh...Ben." You moaned, bucking your hips up and down, loving the feeling of your toy on your sensetive nub.
It didn't take long for you to reach your climax, you writhed on your bed, squirming and moaning, revelling in the feeling of it. Your mind was full of images of him, his lips, his muscular body, his hands. You couldn't help it, he was too addictive. After another three orgasms you eventually passed out in bed.
You slept peacefully through the night, without a single nightmare.
...
Rose sat beside you in your bedroom, straightening her smooth black hair. You were sat at your dressing table, applying a heavy amount of makeup. You contoured and sculpted your face, making sure it was set with powder, you wanted it to last the entire night. Luckily you were skilled with a makeup brush. You carefully applied a smokey black and green eye, a long wing of eyeliner and a set of faux mink lashes. You painted your lips with a black satin colour, dark and mysterious just like your mask. The colour of your lips was so unlike you, but you liked this darker side, you wanted to be a new woman for the night.
Rose helped you tie your mask behind your head, fastening it tightly around your messy updo. You helped her with her own and both took a moment to drink each other in. You gave her a big smile, clinking your glasses together as you waited for your driver to arrive.
"You look incredible...I'm sorry I keep telling you, but I can't help it, you really do." Rose said.
You felt yourself blushing, you knew you looked incredible, you felt powerful and sexy, the best you had felt in years. You wished Flip was here to see you now, he would be in awe of you, just like Rose was.
A honk came from outside, a large black cadillac pulled up. Holdo had arranged the car for you through one of her many contacts, wanting you to arrive at the party in style, it looked good for the business, she reminded you. You sat in the back of the car, a blissful buzz of champagne filling your body with warmth and confidence as you hummed along with the radio, a Lana Del Rey song playing. The lyrics reminded you of Ben, 'walked into the room, you know you made my eyes burn' that part was true. The moment you saw him, all you could see was him. So similar to Flip, yet so differently, colder, more mysterious, infectious. His gaze was magnetic, electric, like nothing else in that room mattered accept for him.
You were daydreaming out of the window when you noticed the car coming to a halt.
The Snoke Manor was behind a huge metal gate, as the car stopped the gates opened and rolled down the drive slowly. You mouth fell open, it was the biggest house you had ever seen. More like a castle than a home. The wedding reception would fit perfectly here, you thought to yourself.
The Manor was grand, as you stepped out of the car you looked up and took it in, the sheer height making you dizzy as you observed it. It was covered with gothic architecture, tall towers with sharp spears, old gargoyles and large windows, the moonlight flooding in from over the rooftop.
"Creepy place huh." Rose muttered, standing beside you.
You nodded in silent agreement, it was creepy.
Other cars were piling into the driveway, carrying women, covered in decadent gowns and jewels. Men adorned in expensive suits and shiny shoes, everyone dripped with money, old and new. You stood beside Rose, taking in the sight of pure opulence, the various masks hiding the identity of the guests. You followed behind a large group of men, making your way inside.
The lobby took your breath away, it oozed with elegance and grandeur. A tall staircase that split into two directions was directly in front of you. The floor was a black and white checkered marble, with flecks of gold glitter embedded in it. A red velvet carpet leading into another large room. As you and Rose walked along the carpet together behind the group of men you looked at each other in disbelief. You had been to your fair share of posh gatherings but nothing as extravagant as this.
A butler took your name and Rose's name before gesturing to towards the great hall. You walked along slowly, eyes widening at the sight. There were several circular tables, covered in black cloth and gold plates and crystal goblets. Ice buckets full of gold bottles of champagne sat in the centre. The back wall was covered in long blood red curtains that draped down to the ground, held together by a gigantic masquerade mask, white and gold, with glittery red lips, it was haunting beautiful. You felt like you were in an elegant circus tent.
A butler showed you and Rose to your table, you took your seat alongside each other. A couple of the men who you followed into the manor were sat down at your table. One of them tilted their head to you, he was dressed head to toe in a black suit, a red pocket square on his chest. He began to pour glasses of champagne, passing one to you and Rose. You smiled at him sweetly before sipping, his eyes twinkled behind his matte black mask.
As you got settled at your table and noticed everyone around you seated, you spotted a large table at the back of the room, directly under the looming mask. You noticed an elderly gentleman, sat down with a cigar in his hand, you noticed his eyes through his mask, a piercing shade of blue. William Snoke. He sat back in his chair with a stoic expression, seemingly bored of the evening already. Once the room was quiet you saw Julia walk in. Her dress was black, floor length and tight to her slim body, with an enormous trail flowing behind her. A once wild animal rested on her shoulders, black and white fur cascading over her. Her mask was red, two large feathers attached to one side. She looked terrifyingly beautiful, her presence made the room silence. A man walked behind her, tall and broad, a tight black Gucci suit hugging his frame, his mask was black with thin red veins embellishing it, like it had been pieced back together with crimson glue. He seemed familiar to you, but you couldn't make out any of his features from under the full length mask, even his hair was covered.
"That must be her fiance..." Rose whispered to you. You nodded, eyes transfixed on him as he took his seat beside her at their table.
"Hello everyone. Thank you all so much for coming this evening. Please eat, drink and enjoy." Julia said in a sickly sweet voice. Applause erupted all around you, the men on your table clinking their glasses and laughing.
The house staff handed around your food, caviar, fine cuts of steak, hundreds of dollars worth of food, the best you had ever tasted. You could get used to this way of living you thought to yourself.
"So, how do you know Julia?" A deep voice spoke, you looked up from your food and into the eyes of the man who handed you your drink.
"Oh, I don't actually know her very well, but I am planning her wedding." You mumbled, trying to swallow your food quickly.
The man let out a dark laugh, shaking his head slightly. "Unlucky for you, she is, fussy."
"I'm used to fussy, I enjoy a challenge." You said confidently.
"Well, I'm sure you will do a fantastic job. Nice dress by the way." He said, his eyes lingering on your chest. You felt your cheeks heat up and blush beneath your mask.
Once you finished your meal you excused yourself from the table, leaving Rose to go and have a cigarette, she was in deep conversation with one of the women at your table so she didn't mind. The weather was still warm when you got outside, you put a cigarette between your full lips and inhaled calmly. You checked your phone, no new messages or calls. You thought about Flip, how much he would have hated this. He was more of the stay at home and watch a movie type of guy, which you didn't mind at all. But you knew he would have loved to see you dolled up like this. You inhaled deeply again, letting the smoke relax you.
"There you are." Julia's voice cooed from behind you.
She walked around to stand in front of you, looking you up and down and curling her lips into a grin.
"I barely recognised you in this dress, your office clothes are quite drab." She said. You didn't appreciate her words but you played nice.
"Well, I had to look my best for this." You said with your best customer service voice. "You look incredible."
"I know." She muttered. "Come, you must meet my fiance."She took you by the wrist, rather tightly, dragging you back through the party to the table where she sat. Now you were closer to the masked man, you noticed his aftershave. Cedar and leather, a slight hint of orange zest. Your eyes fell slowly to his hands, hands that you knew all too well. But now, there was a silver ring wrapped around his finger. You stomach dropped to the floor, your eyes foggy with rage from under your mask.
"My dear, this is my fiance...Kylo."
