Jordan jolted awake in a frenzied state of mind. The sight before him revealed that what he thought had happened was true: he and David were kidnapped. He rattled the chains on his wrists that were shackled above his head, then glanced down at his feet that were in a similar predicament.
He jumped as the steel door to the room flew open and a man in black came through.
"What do you want? Where's David?" Jordan snarled at the guy.
"Woah woah not so fast now." He held his hands up in mock surrender. "I came here with a proposition."
Jordan silently stared at him, signaling for him to continue.
"I can promise that one of you won't have to get hurt at all."
"...I-I don't understand."
"So long as one of you is willing to make a few sacrifices, the other will be guaranteed safety. Think of it as buying your friend...comforts. But it comes with a price."
"Why should I believe a word you say? I could agree and for all I know you're still doing the same shit to him."
The man pointed to a screen that was hanging from the top right corner of the ceiling. "See that? When I turn it on it'll show you your friend. There's your proof."
Jordan swallowed hard. "Did you already tell him this too?"
"Not yet." His voice was gruff.
"Well don't. I'll do it."
The man revealed his crooked yellowing teeth in a sly smile, pulling a controller out of his front pants pocket. "Excellent."
With the click of a button the screen turned on and showed David chained up in a different room similar to the way Jordan was. He let out a sigh of relief upon seeing his friend alright.
"First things first."
Jordan drug his eyes away from the screen to look at the man.
"If you want him to eat today, then you can't."
He didn't even pause to think it over. "Fine."
The man gave him a nod and walked out of the room, the door slamming shut behind him. Jordan bounced his leg up and down as he inspected David as best he could. After awhile Jordan closed his eyes and tried to sleep.
"If I agree...you won't touch David?" Jordan confirmed hesitantly. The man nodded, so Jordan quietly and shakily replied "Alright then."
He was unshackled from the chains and led to sit on a chair that had been placed in the middle of the room. Knowing that complying was the only way to protect David, he stayed silent as his wrists were roughly bound behind his back and his ankles to the legs of the chair.
He watched the man pace back and forth in front of him, his boots clunking as he walked. It was beginning to be mesmerizing - until the man's fist landed on his face. Jordan grunted as his head flew backwards. He gritted his teeth, watching powerlessly as the guy's fist landed right by his eye. Another hit was aimed for his jaw, making his head snap to the right. Jordan's jaw dropped open as he tried to regain feeling again, his pupils wide and vision horribly unfocused.
He groaned as the man began to hit lower, his insides screaming on impact. His ribs felt like they were smoldering from the inside out, slowly making their way to consume any good feeling left inside of him. He hissed as his hair was suddenly yanked from behind, pulled down far enough for him to see the man looming over him.
Later, when he was returned to his original spot another offer was made. "David can get a night with no chains."
"The price?"
