Chapter 3

"Hey remember that time you called Santa a fat judgemental bastard?" I asked as I turned to look at Jade.

"And my mother nearly grounded me for life.... yea I remember it." She said calmly.

"What was it you said?"

"Hi Santa, my names Jade. And I've been naughty and it was worth it, you fat judgemental bastard." She said with a laugh.

"That was the moment I knew I loved you." I said softly.

"Yea, remember when we got so drunk we almost got married."

"Yea, we would have if Regis and Clarus hadn't of been assholes and locked us both up until we sobered up." I said calmly.

We soon parked and I saw a boat waiting for us.

"Can't believe I'm going to Tenebrae." I said softly.

"I can't believe the king hasn't noticed you gone yet." She said as she led me to the boat.

"He's so gonna be pissed off." I said as I shook my head.

"Yea, but it will be worth it." She said as we climbed onto the boat.

"Hey remember when we wrapped Regis in bubble wrap and tried to hide him in a cave because he kept injuring himself?" I asked softly.

"Yea and then we wrapped Cid up and threw him down a flight of stairs with Cor."

"Yea.... Cor didn't have bubble wrap though." I said happily.

She let out a laugh and shook her head. The boat started up and I crossed my legs.

"So, how long until we get a call from either my father or Cor?" I asked calmly.

"I say we make it halfway."

"Who do you think will know I'm gone?" I asked calmly.

"Cor, he always knows." She said as she leaned back.

"Yea, I swear he has a tracker on me." I said with a laugh.

She sent me a look and I rolled my eyes.

"He doesn't actually have a tracker on me. Maybe on my brother, but not me." I said as I shook my head.

"I'm still not sure. I mean... he could of slipped one in your drink." She said as she ordered a drink.

"You know you're not old enough to drink." I said calmly.

"One year away... and besides... they don't know that." She whispered.

I let out a laugh as she handed me a drink.

"To think we can relax and just enjoy our time in Tenebrae." She said as she laid back.

"Wait... isn't Tenebrae on land and not sea?" I asked with a frown.

"Um... we are going the long way." She said calmly.

I sent her a look and she sent me a smile.

"Sir where is this boat heading?" I asked the driver.

"First Altissia and then Tenebrae." He said calmly.

"Why not Tenebrae first? Is it not closer?" I asked with a frown.

"Cause we have to pick up a important person from Altissia."

"Who?"

"The prince."

I saw Jade's eyes go wide and I turned and looked back at her.
