Mark blinked a few times, and despite having been to quite a few music awards shows, he never quite got used to the sheer number of people at these events. He could only smile, this kind of support was unimaginable and Mark could not be more grateful - it distracted him momentarily from Yuta who also just happened to step out of his limousine.

Speechless. Mark gaped, paparazzi probably getting more than a few unflattering photos of him before he remembered to shut his mouth and wave again. Yuta looked ethereal, and the best part was that they were within ten metres of each other. Was it normal to feel this jittery? At that moment, Mark couldn't even remember what award he was nominated for. Mark had to look away- if by chance, Yuta looked in his direction and they made eye contact, his fight or flight response would activate (obviously going for flight). Keeping his head turned away from Yuta, he ket the last of his customary photos be taken before he entered the building.

Before the awards were announced, there were the performances. First up was Haechan, nominated for Artist of the Year. He'd forgotten about Haechan in the recent months - obviously he was still growing in following bu the sight of him kind of irritated Mark. In his opinion, Yuta should be nominated for Artist of the Year, not Haechan but unfortunately Mark didn't get to choose. It's not like Haechan didn't deserve the award, they actually had a collaboration together and got on well (they spent a lot of time talking about Yuta because Haechan knew Yuta personally and Mark had told him about his crush), Mark just thinks that Yuta deserves the world. Fuck SM.

Haechan's performance was amazing - he really outdid himself this year.

Next was Seventeen, it did not go unnoticed by Mark that all go the ships were standing together while Seungkwan hung off Vernon's arm before and after their performance. Their choreography was insane - they had clearly practiced the moves to perfection because they were so in sync it was scary.

After that, various other artists did their own performances. Mark did pay attention to all of them and they all did great jobs, but he would never be able to remember their names. Apparently, they were saving the best for last because it was taking forever for Yuta's performance to start.

Finally, it was Yuta's turn. Mark cried. With glossy eyes, Mark wondered: How?? Does?? Someone?? So?? Perfect?? Even?? Exist?? Yuta even changed outfits and the welcome surprise made Mark choke on his drink, and if Yuta or anyone else noticed, they didn't say anything.

Sometimes, even with a lot of practice, Mark felt awkward standing in front of a crowd but Yuta moved like he was born to be on that stage, and in a cliché turn of events, they made eye contact. In that moment where their eyes were locked together, Mark was sure a look of recognition flickered over Yuta's eyes. The Canadian was ready to die happily, since Yuta noticed him, but he also wanted to crawl under the table because Mark was probably gaping at the man. Again. Dispatch was going to have a great story to go with this one.
