To Be Replaced

Part 3

After Baekhyun apologized to you repeatedly, he had apparently made it his new goal in life to make how he has been acting up to you. He somehow managed to talk his company and his manager into giving him a couple of days off from work, and he also delegated his Prive tasks to his assistant and other employees of his. You didn't totally believe him when he said he could take a couple of days away from work, but when he put his phone on "Do Not Disturb" and dropped it into his sock drawer, you were surprised.

You told him he didn't have to do all of this and told him to take his phone off DND in case of an emergency, but he was bound and determined to show you how sorry he was. He claimed anyone who needed to get ahold of him for an emergency knew how to contact you, and if they didn't know to contact you, then it wasn't important enough.

You had to admit... you melted a tiny bit at his actions, but he was still in the doghouse as far as you were concerned. You knew a lot of his interactions with Maya were work-related, and those didn't bother you, but parts of their relationship crossed the line, and he needed to understand that.

Over the course of his days off, Baekhyun stuck true to his words. He spent all his time with you, to the point where you almost wished his friends would come distract him for an hour or two. He also didn't even bother to look at his phone once, which you were impressed that anyone could do that in this era. He did go into his office when design inspiration hit him, but you were completely okay with that. You didn't want to turn him into a lap dog or something. You just wanted your cute, dorky boyfriend to spend some quality time with you.

You did, at one point, find the nerve to tell him what had been making you upset. You told him how you hated that he was constantly on his phone, how it really hurt you that he switched your dinner plans, and how upset you were that he watched that movie with Maya. You told him how you felt completely pushed to the side and unimportant to him.

He hated that he made you feel that way because it was never his intention to make you feel anything other than loved. He acknowledged that he had been on his phone way too much and how he definitely screwed up by watching that movie with Maya, which made you feel a little better.

Of course, there were things that still bugged you, like the fact that he got so dressed up for a dinner with Maya... until you found out that he didn't go to dinner with just Maya, and that he had actually invited some other partners out as well. That the only reason he wanted to take her out to dinner was because this line was extremely important to him and he was happy she fixed the mistakes holding them back.

You also found a way to mention how close he was to Maya without making it sound accusatory. You asked him why he was talking to her and hanging out with her so much outside of work. You were just trying to understand his thought process and his actions. He told you that he was excited to have someone to talk fashion with. Someone who was as into it as him and that understood the deep inner workings of designing a line, and you couldn't exactly fault him for that, because you certainly weren't able to help in that area. He didn't really have anyone he was super close with to talk about designing besides the people he already had in his company and talked to regularly, so apparently Maya had become that person.

He admitted that he spent more time talking to Maya than necessary and that when he was with you, he should be focused on what's going on with you and your relationship, not burying his face in his phone. You let him know that you were completely fine with him talking to Maya about work when he was with you because you didn't want to get in the way of his clothing line at all. You just wanted him to give you a little more attention than he has been.

All in all, he promised that he wouldn't be so uninvolved from now on and that he would distance himself from Maya outside of work, and... you believed him. He was completely sincere in his apologies, and you could tell he knew he had messed up a lot, so you were going to give him a chance to prove that he meant everything he said.
