Dozens of civilians are gathered in bank. Tension and uncertainty surround them. Three chitauri oversee them, pointing their weapons at them. One of them charges a bomb. It beeps. y/n and Cap jumps through the window and throws their shields at the bomber. The other two aim their rifles, but Cap and y/n head for cover under a desk, which they kick at them. They then jump over the desk, and push a soldier each over the balcony railing. The crowd moves away. A soldier attacks them from behind and rips off Cap's helmet. The bomb is beeping faster.
Cap: Everyone! Clear out!
Cap flips over the soldier, grabs his shield and just as the bomb is about to go off, the alien dives for it, trying to stop it, but it goes off, sending y/n and Cap through the window, landing very hard on a car. The civilians look up from below. They're okay. They get off the car and look around at the city. Destroyed. The police and firemen arrive, pulling out those civilians he saved. A waitress looks back, thankful at y/n specifically. Back in the bridge, Fury sees on his viewscreen the world security council
Member 2: Director Fury, the council has made a decision.
Nick: I recognize the council has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it.
Member 1: Director, you're closer than any of our subs, you scramble that jet...
Nick: That is the island of Manhattan, Councilman. Until I'm certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population.
Member 1: If we don't hold them in the air, we lose everything.
Nick: I send that bird out, we already have.
Fury shuts off his viewscreen. Black Widow, still driving the chariot with the rider, is hit at her side. She looks about, wondering whose energy fire it was she looks behind.
Natasha: Oh. You.
Loki follows in hot pursuit. They race downward, trailing between buildings. They race madly, driving and dodging. Hawkeye looks at Widow, astonished.
Clint: Nat, what are you doing?
Natasha: Uh... a little help!
Clint pulls the trigger twice, nocks an arrow, and points it at Loki, smiling.
Clint: I've got him.
The arrow flies across the city- into Loki's hand. He catches it and looks back at Clint, a condescending smirk on his face. However, the arrow explodes and sends him flying onto the Stark tower helicopter pad. Black Widow looks down and building her momentum, she jumps off the chariot, she lands on top of STARK Tower, rolling herself to the edge. As Loki looks up, shocked at what just happened, The Hulk leaps up the building and knocks Loki through the window. The Hulk jumps in, ready to attack. Loki rolls himself up in a flurry of broken glass, standing up to The Hulk
Loki: ENOUGH! YOU ARE, ALL OF YOU ARE BENEATH ME! I AM A GOD, YOU DULL CREATURE, AND I WILL NOT BE BULLIED BY-
Hulk grabs Loki by the ankle and repeatedly slams him into the ground, covering him in dust and grit.
Hulk: Puny god...
Loki: Hhhhhhhh....
Natasha walks up the CMS machine. Selvig, slumped down, weakened, looks at her desperately. The Tesseract's energy is firing towards the portal, gaining in strength, at the surge of energy moving through the sky.
Natasha: Doctor.
Selvig: Loki's scepter, the energy...the Tesseract can't fight. You can't protect against yourself.
