Where's Ur? ~A Fairy Tail Fanfic~ (under construction!)

Chapter 11

It was him. Your last hope of finding Ur. It was Gray.

"So uh... do you need something?" Gray repeated. You had been staring at him for a while, enough that the guild had started whispering about you.

"I'm sorry," you started with a small bow, "my name is (m/n). I've come quite a long way to see you and I was wondering if you could answer a question that I have."

"Ask away. I'll do my best to help you," he said while taking a few steps closer. You took a deep breath, it was time. Brushing back your (h/c) hair you looked Gray directly in the eyes.

"Where's Ur?

Gray's eyes widened, as did anyone (read: everyone in the guild) who heard you talking. His eyes narrowed then and he clenched his fists.

"Who are you?" he asked, suddenly seeming angry. Then he saw the melting remains of the shield behind you, "Where did you come from?"

You were taken aback by his change of attitude, and everyone's for that matter. It was a simple question... right?

"Oi, I'm talking to you," Gray spat.

"Gray," Erza said in a warning tone. They both glared at each other then.

"Sorry. Maybe that was too sud-" you tried to apologize but Gray walked away.

"H-hey!" you tried calling after him, but it was no use.

"(m/n) don't let it get to you," Natsu's voice, "Gray gets all moody like that sometimes. It's not a big deal." You felt a hand clap you on the shoulder, but you were still focused on Gray's retreating form.

"Natsu! 'Not a bid deal'? Do you even remember all that happened with Gray and Leon?" Lucy this time.

"Hm... something about a monster right..?" Natsu mumbled. You pushed past the group and started making your way towards Gray.

"Hey, (m/n)! It's probably best to leave Gray alone right now," Happy called after you.

'Too bad,' you thought to yourself, 'I came all this way and I want an answer.' Now you didn't usually get mad at people like this. But it was a bit too much for him just to walk out on you! Seriously!

You found yourself back in front of the guild, Gray was heading down the path to the right.

"Hey! Gray!" you yelled while storming at him. He didn't stop.

'Then I'll make him stop,' you though angrily while taking your normal fighting stance.

"Ice make... ROSE GARDEN!"

The ice flowers flew from your palms and wrapped themselves up onto Gray's body. He looked back. That emotion in his eyes... you couldn't quite read it, but it threw you off. Your (e/c) eyes stared into those dark blue, almost soulless, eyes. He was... upset? No. Scared? Shocked?

As you tried to pinpoint how he was feeling, something hit you and you flew backwards.

"Ugh..." you moaned as you stood to look at you attacker. Gray. His eyes were obscured by his bangs so you couldn't see them anymore. You didn't have more than five seconds to think before he charged at you again, luckily you were able to dodge.

"Gray!" it was Erza, she came out of the guild and started walking to where you were.

"Ice make... WALL!" Gray quickly formed a large wall that wrapped around the door to the guild, trapping everyone inside. You saw Natsu and Erza working on destroying the ice, but that was going to take them awhile.

"You," you turned to see Gray speaking to you, "where did you learn how to do that?" he gestured in the direction of the roses.

"I just picked it up. From watching somebody," you replied unsure of what he was getting at. Though, you were talking now so it was a start.

"That someone... was Ur?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Then let's see what you 'picked up'," Gray exclaimed while charging at you.

"Ice make... LANCE!" thousands of spears flew at you upon his command. You quickly jumped to the side to avoid being hit.

"Owowowowow..." you hissed in pain. Some of them had managed to catch your arm.

"I wouldn't believe that someone who had learned from Ur could be so weak, but I guess I was wrong," Gray spat while preparing another attack.

'He's fast!' you thought. You needed to dodge this next attack for sure.

"Ice make... BATTLE AXE!" he shouted while charging at you. This was it... time to counter!

"Ice make... SHIELD!" you commanded while standing your ground. The ice collided and you felt yourself slipping backwards as your shield began to crack.

"Too strong..." you mumbled as the shield broke. But so did his axe! You were able to fend off his attack!

"Not bad," Gray spoke while looking at you, "but I wanted to see an offensive move." He crossed his arms and looked at you with annoyance.

"Ice make... SWORD EXPLOSION!" you yelled while feeling the sharp points of ice fly out from you at every angle. You looked around to see where Gray had gone.

'There!' you caught him out of the corner of you eye just in time to see him smash the swords with a hammer. You stumbled back at the sudden attack before regaining your footing. Then you saw it, a few small scrapes along his torso. You had landed a hit on him!

"Ice make..." he began. How was he able to attack again so soon?!

"GEYSER!" You were propelled up into the air by the ferocious attack. It hurt a lot! By the time the pain cleared away you notice you were a good 100 feet up in the air!

"Ice make... slide," you mumbled barely able to catch yourself as you fell to the ground.

You coughed as you stood up to face Gray again.

"Pretty good. I'll admit that was impressive," he whistled while looking at the slide you made. You panted, knowing that there was no way you could block another one of his attacks.

"About Ur," he began. He now had your full attention.

"She died seven years ago," he finished. And your world fell apart.

Alrighty, another chapter done and posted! Sorry if Gray seemed a bit mean but I struggled on how he would react to some stranger asking about Ur. How would you react if some random person asked how your friend who died seven years ago was? Yeah... so this was my best guess on how he would act. Please vote, comment, and follow!
