Angie arrives at school, and, all of a sudden, she feels very shy between all those people. Many kids have noticed her physical change, and they are looking at her with surprise. Gretta Keene and her friends stare at her with rage and annoyance.

"Angie!"

Luckily, she hears a known voice. After Bower's gang and Gretta, it is lovely to see her best friend's sweet face, Mary Sue. She smiles, relieved.

"Hey!".

The two girls start chatting and laughing, and Angie doesn't notice that someone is staring at her.

In classroom, Angie's desk is in front of Gretta's and behind Sally Mueller's. So, she is obliged to hear all their gossips. She prayed Mrs Douglas to switch place with Gretta, but the woman refused. ("You won't die, it is just a pair of hours"). Yes, but a pair of hours could pass painfuly slow, when you were obliged to hear Gretta's stupid stories. Right now, from what Angie can understand, they are talking about Gretta's sleepover, Marcia Fadden threw up some strawberry vodka, and her mom discovered it, so she is grounded for the rest of the week.

"God, she's such a baby!" Greta is laughing.

"Oh, come on, don't be mean!" Sally replies.

Angie rolls her eyes, she is playing with her butterfly shaped ring, looking outside the window, it is a beautiful day.

"Great, kids, I want you to read Tales of Terror by Edgar Allan Poe for next month, please, write an analysis and remember that it will count a lot for the final exam".

The bell rings, everybody leaves the classroom, and Angie meets Mary Sue.

"Have you ever read this book?" She asks her.

"Mmm not really, it's not my genre"

Mary Sue only likes romance novels, that kind of book with a lovely and sweet plot, a pastel cover, just like her personality.

"Well, I suppose you'll be happy, you love reading".

Angie goes in the library; she wants to start reading the book. In the library, she meets Dewey Conroy.

"Hi Angie, you look great" He smiles, and Angie notices he has dimples.

"Oh thanks, you too" She blushes, he's a nice guy.

"Well, see you"

She leaves the library with a great feeling. An older boy, even cute, said hello her. But when she arrives in the school yard, she forgets about everything, the essay for Miss Douglas, the book, Dewey's dimples.

At the end of the school yard, she notices Richie and his friends, the Losers Club, but they are not alone. Her brother and Stan Uris are on the ground, while Bowers is harassing Bill.

"What the hell?"

Mary Sue tries to calm her down.

"Wait, Angie, let's call a teacher..."

But she is not listening, she is just done. She is done with her brother being their target, done with their violence. Usually, she is a quiet girl, but like they said, the calmest ones are scary when they get angry.

She puts her bag down and she runs towards them.

"Leave him alone!"

She pushes Bowers away from Bill.

Belch and Victor exchanged glances, amused, they are curious. No one is so stupid to push Henry Bowers. Patrick licks his lips, he is ready for the show. There is something very exciting about that pure innocent girl losing control.

At the beginning, Bowers is shocked, he doesn't react. Angie wants to take advantage of his shock, to run away with the Losers, but Henry changes his facial expression, and the girl understands she has made a mistake. A big mistake.

He his smiling, how weird.

"What do you think you are doing?".

"Leave them alone for God's sake, he's thirteen, go mess with someone of your size, what's wrong with you?"

"A-a-angie, let it go..."

"No, Bill!"

Bowers comes dangerously closer, he still has something crazy in his eyes. Few inches and they could have kissed.

"What a stupid idea" She thinks.

"You talk too much, you could use that pretty mouth in a different way"

Behind her, she hears her brother pretending to throw up.

"Did you say something Trashmouth?" Bowers is furious.

"Richie, shut your mouth!"

"Did you hear what he..."

"RICHARD FOR GOD'S SAKE GO HOME!"

Feeling guilty, Richie helps Stan to stand up, Bill takes Eddie and they all go away by bike.

Suddenly, Angie notices the sheriff in the school yard, with a woman. "Bett Ripsom's mom" she thinks. She disappeared one week ago. Henry notices them too.

"It's not over" he says.

"Go to hell!" she thinks, but, once again, she can't not say it loud, so she just turns around, and leaves him in the middle of the school yard.

She walks towards Mary Sue, she is trembling and her cheeks are red, but she tries to act confident.

"Let's go home,ok?"

"Are you ok Angie? I was so worried, what were you thinking?"

On the other part of the school yard, Henry is still staring at her.

"That bitch..."

"Yes Bowers, maybe she's a bitch" Belch comments. "But you can't deny she is hot as hell".
