CHAPTER FIVE
Family Reunion

ANDY HAD NO idea if she was making the right decision as she crossed the white bridge in Yards Park, her hands shoved in her pockets. She hadn't spoken to Gemma in 7 years. There was a chance she had been brainwashed by their family to be convinced that Andy was a traitor and in their eyes, she was. And the punishment for traitors in the Maggia was death.

But she still found her feet moving in the direction she knew Gemma would be. Call it stupidity or bravery, but a part of Andy was tired of running. She had spent the better part of a decade doing it and it had gotten to the point where she found no energy to keep doing so.

The only thing bringing her comfort right now was the pistol in her thigh holster under her skirt. She couldn't be too cautious.

She looked down at her watch. 11:56. She was right on time.

Her walk with Steve the other day gave her an opportunity to scout out the location. She spotted Gemma on a bench, her legs crossed wearing sunglasses. She was wearing ankle boots, dark blue jeans and a red leather jacket over a plain blue t-shirt.

Andy swallowed before she walked down the riverfront and over to her. She stopped by the other side of the bench. "Your hairs lighter."

Gemma's head snapped up at her and her face broke out in a wide grin. "And yours is longer."

"I've been meaning to get a trim." Andy shrugged.

Gemma looked at her phone. "11:59. Right on time. Some things don't change, huh? You were always so annoyingly early."

"Old habits die hard, I guess." Andy said as she looked around. She wasn't in the mood to be ambushed.

"Relax." Gemma mused. "It's just me, I swear."

"How did you know I was here?" Andy asked as she sat down next to her cousin.

"I would say I tracked you down, but I just saw you working inside that cafe when I went for a walk. So I guess fate led me to you." Gemma smirked.

Andy rolled her eyes. "Or just a massive coincidence."

"So, Ma–"

"It's Andy." The woman interjected quickly.

Gemma nodded, pursing her lips. "Andy. I like it. Andy, then. It's good to see you. How do you not age?"

Andy smiled smugly and shrugged. "A lot of moisturizer."

"Send me a link."

"You're looking good too. Though...wait. Is that a wrinkle I see?"

Gemma's face fell as her hand flew to her face. "Where?" She asked and Andy chuckled, raising her eyebrows. Gemma shook her head and scoffed, "You bitch."
