I woke up to a white ceiling and when I turned to face my side, I saw Jacob talking to the school nurse, Nurse Sandra.
Yes. The Jacob Wayne Zelstra. In the flesh.
"Great! Thanks Nurse." Jacob smiled at her and when I felt like he's about to turn to me, I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep.
"I know, gising ka na." He said and I heard him take a seat when the chair moved.
I slowly opened my eyes and tried to sit but I felt my head spinning and I rested my head on the wall.
"Hey. Bakit ba pabigla-bigla ka kumilos? You're sick. Dapat hindi ka na pumasok ngayon." Xander said and rushed to my side.
"Ako? May sakit?" I asked and touched my head.
Indeed, I have a fever.
"Wala lang to. Biogesic lang katapat nito. Hala! Teka! Anong oras na pala!" I exclaimed and my eyes widened when I glanced at the clock.
5:00 pm, it says.
"Hala. Shocks! Shocks!" I groaned and my head felt heavy again.
"Hoy! Nababaliw ka na ba? Tigilan mo nga yan. Sinabihan ko na si Ma'am. Excused ka na sa SA duty mo ngayon." Jacob said and shook his head. "Kakaiba ka talaga."
Out of nowhere, he stood up and handed me a paperbag from a famous fastfood chain.
"Ano 'to?" I blinked and punched my head a few times trying to remove the pain.
"Pagkain, obvious ba?" Jacob said and rolled his eyes.
I was busying punching the side of my head when I felt his hand on my wrist.
I opened my eyes and met his.
"Quit doing that. Eat and then take your medicine. I'm driving you home." Jacob said and took the paper bag from me.
He gently pulled out the styrofoam and tore open the plastic where the plastic spoon and fork are.
He handed it to me and I blinked again at him.
"Ano, susubuan pa kita, you want?" Jacob asked sarcastically.
I immediately took it and started to eat silently.
"Bakit ka nga pala andito? 'Di ba may training kayo?" I asked, referring to him being a varsity player.
Jacob shook his head and leaned his head against the wall.
"Wala. Coach cancelled. He has to attend to his daughter. Susunduin nya pa daw anak nya kaya niresched na lang sa ibang araw." Jacob answered, his eyes still fixed on me.
I nodded as I chomped on the food he gave me.
As soon as I was done eating, I took my meds and started to get up.
Jacob was quick to rush to my side.
"Tapos ka na agad? Uwi na tayo?" Jacob asked, concern is evident in his voice.
"Oo.. uuwi na ako. At ikaw, umuwi ka na din. " I nodded and thanked him as he helped me get up.
"Thank you po, Nurse. " I managed to give her a tight smile and she returned it too.
"Kapag hindi kaya, absent ka muna bukas ha. Bawi nalang pag oks ka na ulet." Nurse Sandra said as she led us out of her clinic.
"Opo, Nurse. Salamat po ulet." I said and was about to adjust the strap of my bag when Jacob got it from me. "Hey! Akin na yan!"
"No can do." Jacob shook his head and dragged me out of the building to the parking lot.
"Makahila ka naman. Parang kanina lang, ingat na ingat ka, ngayon parang wala akong sakit ah!" I protested and he automatically let go of my hand.
"Sorry. Now, get in." Jacob said and opened his car.
I sighed and gave in.
I sat on the passenger seat while he closed the door.
He went to the driver's side and started to maneuver it out to the road.
"Now, tell me where do you live."
