Chapter 4

Alex's pov

its been two days since the last time I've seen Max and I cant stop thinking about that kiss... its tearing my mind apart because I still cant comprehend that it happened and the fact that I kind of liked it! Maybe I should ask Britt for his number and talk to him about this whole kiss and run situation and honestly, now that I think about it, i'm a bit pissed off that he just walked away from it. Even if I wasn't going to say anything he still could have at least explained himself! It was very rude of him to do such a thing, would it look awkward though if I was crunched down into a corner looking like I just witnessed a murder and then him sitting on the couch with that smile of his.. Britt would have been a bit suspicious about that-

"HELLO! earth to Alex!" Britt waved her hand in front of my face.

I shook my head and stared at her for a bit

"what?" I asked breathlessly.

"are you going to ignore Ryan?" Britt said looking at me like I was clueless. And I was, i gave her a confused look before looking to my right and saw Ryan sitting very close next to me. He smiled at me ate his sandwich he had for lunch.

"oh, hi" i said looking at him desperately.
"alright, you two talk, im gonna go get something to eat" Britt patted my shoulder and left the table.

i watched as she walked towards one of the lunch lines and all of the guys heads turning towards her. She always got that kind of attention for boys.. she said she never really noticed when i brought it up to her but she just dismissed it and said boys will be boys but it never let down that smile that crept up on her face when i tell her.

"so what's been going on with you lately?" Ryan asked. i looked at him confused.

"what do you mean?" i tilted my head to the side slightly.

"well.. you've been going off into your own world recently and I'm a bit worried. what's been going on in that pretty little head of yours" Ryan smiled at me and i smiled back noticing that he was flirting.

"n-nothing you need to worry about i promise.. i just been thinking about.. i don't know. life, my life" i stared up at the celing and cringed as the word 'lies' kept echoing in my head again.

"well what about your life? you know you can talk to me right?"

"yes i know that, I'm sorry i haven't really done that-" i stopped talking as i stared off into the distance.

it was him... Max. he walked into the cafeteria looking around. some of his friends spotted him as he walked in and ran towards him hugging him and saying their hellos. "um.. i-i'll be right back k?"

"uh okay" Ryan watched me as i quickly climbed out of the table and ran over max.

Ryan's pov

i watched as Alex ran over to a guy but it wasn't just a guy.. it was that max kid. i thought he moved to a different state? When he saw her running over towards him and had a smirk on his face that i wish i could just wipe right off his face.

"hey wheres Alex?" Britt asked placing her tray of food down.

"over there" i said annoyed and pointed to the couple.

"is that max?" Britt asked in a whisper and shocked voice.

"yeah.. it is. are you going to go run over to him like she did!?" i asked in a irritated tone. i need to cool down.

"um no, but damn, what the hell is your problem?"

"i don't know. it just makes me upset seeing her with another guy and running off towards them.." i stared blankly at them as they talked. soon they both walked out of the doors of the cafeteria and into the hallway.
