Sophia's POV
Tears were streaming down my face as I held my head in my hands.
I was sitting on the couch beside Jacob, who wasn't dead but didn't seem alive.
The bodies of these people were twitching every other second and it was unnerving.
"I told them to wait! Are they idiots?!"
A groan sounded from the floor and I shot up to my feet, looking for the source.
The book nerd girl's eyes were closed instead of open now, and she was propped up on her elbow.
"Ow." She groaned and I ran to her side, placing a tentative hand on her shoulder.
"Um, are you okay?" I asked, ashamed that I had forgotten her name.
"Had she even told me her name? Does she even know who I am?"
"What happened?" The girl looked around, blinking slowly. "I thought I was dead?"
I let out a sigh of relief. "My name is Sophia."
"Kiara." The girl looked up to me. "I was gonna ask if this was hell, but I don't think a person like you would be here then."
I cringed as she said that. "If only she knew."
"Thank you I think?" I laughed nervously. "Everyone who drank the weird drink is knocked out and I don't know what to do. Now that you woke up though, they should be waking up soon."
Kiara looked around at the other people as she slowly sat up. "How long have I been out?"
I looked up at the ticking clock on the wall. "If that clock is correct, a little less than an hour."
Kiara stood up and I did the same.
"Did you drink your power juice yet?" Kiara asked, and I shook my head. "Then you should drink it now while I'm awake."
I nodded shakily and picked up my glass with a shaky hand, drinking the orange-tasting juice with a few sips.
We both waited for something to happen, but nothing did. I felt a minor headache, but that was it. I didn't fall to my knees and start throwing up foam or whatever. Instead we both just stood there.
"That's odd. I expected yours to have an even worse reaction." Kiara murmured, and then neither of us said another words.
We stood there in an awkward silence.
"This is so awkward. We should be doing something to get out of here before the murderer comes for us. We should test if her powers actually work! And then we can tell alibis to see who the Traitor is!"
I turned to her and opened my mouth to speak, but there was a shout from behind us.
We both turned around abruptly and stared at Aiden as he jumped to his feet and looked around.
When he saw us, he let out a breath. "So it wasn't poison. I thought my nose lied to me for a second."
"More like an hour." I mumbled and Aiden turned to the clock.
"Shit." He breathed. "It feels like we've been here forever but unless we escape today, then we still have seven days. Oh yeah do the powers work?"
An excited look popped onto Kiara's face as if she hadn't just woken up from half death. "We should test them out!"
"That's what I was gonna say! They stole my idea."
Aiden crossed his arms and turned to me. "Why are you the cute cinnamon roll, you look pretty pissed?"
