Kiara's POV
The second I heard everyone cry out at the same time, I jumped down, no hesitation.
"Guys! What happened?!" I cried as I landed.
I froze as I looked up.
There was no sign of them besides five phones on the ground, flashlights on and facing the ceiling.
I pulled out my own phone with a trembling hand and turned on the flashlight, shining it around the room.
I felt the blood drain from my face. Weapons lined every single wall. Each weapon was shining and sharp. It looked like it could slice through me with the slightest amount of pressure.
I slowly walked toward a very long sword-like thing that looks like it would be used for an execution and I pressed my hand against the smooth and cold metal.
I could see my reflection in the metal when suddenly, something dropped in front of my face.
I backed away and looked at the floor. A dark red spot was on the ground in front of me and I swallowed, looking up.
I gasped when I saw Jacob strapped to the ceiling, blood dripping from his arm. His eyes were wide and he was struggling.
"J-Jacob?" I stammered, as he wrestled his mouth free from the bindings.
"LOOK OUT!" He screamed and I whirled around.
I large, dark, hooded figure lunged toward me, swinging an axe down toward my head.
I dropped my phone and fell backwards, shooting my hands forward to catch the weapon.
The axe peeled some of the skin off of the palm of my hand, but I was still able to hold it. I pressed my hands into the sides of the metal, arms trembling as tears leaked from my eyes.
Blood dripped down my arms as the axe came closer and closer to my head.
I squeezed my eyes shut as the tip of the blade pressed just barely against my forehead.
"Kiara, hold on!" Eliza yelled, and I peeled one of my eyes open just enough to see her halfway out of her binds.
"Don't be stupid! If you interfere it's only gonna kill her quicker!" Aiden snapped, but Eliza still tried to get to the ground.
"There has to be something we can do!" Sophia cried, and suddenly, I felt like I was losing my grip on the axe.
I lifted my legs and pressed my feet against the handle of the axe, pushing it away from me.
Blood was drizzling down my face and arms and it felt so hot and sticky. The smell filled my nose and I wanted to hide from it.I pushed harder with my legs, and the dark figure was thrown away from me.
I scrambled to my feet and ran over to Eliza, jumping and grabbing her hand, trying to pull her down.
"Your hands!" Eliza cried and I let out a sob from the pain.
"It burns. Make it stop!"
I jumped again, not putting my feet down as I clung to Eliza's arm.
Eliza was finally released and she fell to the ground.
I ran back toward Jacob and picked up that sword thing that I had been looking at earlier.
"What are you doing?!" Aiden shouted, but I ignored him, raising the weapon to scrape against the binds that were holding Jacob back.
I sliced through them as carefully as I could, but from the way he cried out, I cut him somewhere accidentally.
When he dropped down, he got back up and pressed his hands to his thigh.
Blood was dripping slowly but surely through his fingers.
I looked at Eliza. "Go help the others get down. I gotta help Jacob."
Eliza nodded and picked up her own weapon, using it to cut everyone down.
I kicked off my shoes and peeled off my stockings.
"Take off your pants." I ordered, and Jacob looked at me like I was crazy. "Just do it!"
He slid his jeans off and I winced as I saw how deep I had really cut him. It wasn't too bad, he would live. It was just deeper than expected.
"It'll need stitches if we ever get out of here."
I tied my stocking around his leg right above the slice tight enough to cut off circulation.
"Okay, you should be good for now." I said quietly, and he instantly pulled his pants back up.
I turned away from him and sank to my knees, flexing my hands.
"It hurts so bad! I can't take much more of this!"
I looked up after taking a deep breath and panic filled my chest as I saw the dark figure, dragging a scythe toward Eliza, who was cutting down Aiden.
"WATCH IT!" I screamed at the same time as Jacob yelled, "AIDEN!"
We both ran forward, aiming for different targets.
I body slammed the dark figure while Jacob grabbed Aiden's hand, ripping him down from the ceiling.
Sophia ran up to me and helped me up.
"Are your hands okay?" She asked.
"I'll be fine." I replied, looking around for our last person. "We just have to get Benjamin and get out of here."
Sophia nodded and looked around. "W-Wait. Where is Benjamin?"
Worry laced my insides as I looked all around.
"Where did he go?"
"Benjamin?!" I called, and I heard a muffled groan from inside the dark figure.
I felt dread settled inside of me as I slowly lifted the hood and found an unconscious Benjamin underneath.
"Benjamin?!" Sophia cried, sitting him up.
I backed away from him.
"This doesn't make any sense."
Benjamin's eyes fluttered open and he instantly shot to his feet.
"Guys, are you okay?" He asked worriedly and we all backed farther away from him.
Sophia was crying while Aiden was supporting Jacob with Eliza's help.
"Benjamin... are you the Traitor?" Eliza whispered, and a horrible silence filled the room.
"I should read his mind."
"I'm not the Traitor! I would never do that!" Benjamin said out loud and we made eye contact.
I activated my powers.
"What even happened? Did I do this to them?"
I let out a small breath. "He's not lying. He doesn't even know what happened."
Sophia let out a breath of relief.
"But then what happened?" Aiden growled.
Benjamin shivered. "It was like mind control."
Everyone went silent as they looked at Eliza.
"Mind control?" Eliza whispered, eyes going wide with panic.
