Eliza's POV
I crossed my legs and arms, squeezing my arms.
Aiden was still upstairs with Jacob's body and the rest of us were in the living room.
"It's time to discus who we think the Traitor is." I said quietly and Kiara glared at me furiously.
"Could you please give us a second? It's driving me crazy how these deaths aren't affecting you at all!" She stood up and Sophia nodded along. "We just found our companion in the bathroom in pools of blood! I understand you care a lot about your own life because you're selfish and only care about what will serve you the best, but I think the rest of us need a second. We'll wait until Aiden comes back and then we can talk about it."
"I agree. Aiden deserves to be a part of the conversation. He needs to get a say." Sophia raised her chin and I sighed.
"You're right. I'm sorry. I'll try to not keep my priorities straight!" I snapped and Kiara stormed up to me.
I cowered back. Despite her caring nature, Kiara had a dangerous air seeping out of her. As if if I pushed her off the edge she would push me of an actual edge and have no regrets. It seemed that there was an inferno burning inside of her and that's what always made her so warm as long as she kept it under control.
Her voice was low and quiet. "Say it again. I dare you."
A shiver crawled up my back and I pushed Kiara away slowly. "I'm sorry."
Kiara crossed her arms and turned away, that vicious air gone. "I need to take a second by myself, please."
Kiara walked through the kitchen and toward the bathroom, and then I could hear a door slamming shut.
Sophia turned to me with a glare that made me feel slightly guilty.
"What?" My shoulders tensed up.
"You should go apologize to her properly." Sophia said, and I sighed.
"Since when are you in charge?" I rolled my eyes but still stood up and walked through the kitchen and toward the bathroom.
Just as I raised my hand to knock, I heard a sound from inside. It sounded like laughing. Really hysterical laughing. But... it wasn't laughing at all.
"She's... crying. Really hard."
Kiara's sobs were more like quiet screams and I was frozen outside of the bathroom, listening to her sobs.
"She's so weak."
I had never seen her really cry even once, let alone heard her.
Slowly, the crying quieted and then I could hear water running. Then silence.
I raised an eyebrow and pressed my ear to the door, trying to see what Kiara was up to in there.
Much to my horror, the door opened and Kiara shoved passed me. She stopped and turned to me, her eyes red and puffy.
"I am not weak." She growled and then turned to walk away, but I ran forward and grabbed her arm.
"You read my mind without making eye contact with me? How is that possible? You couldn't see me through the door!" I questioned, and Kiara yanked her arm away from me.
"I've been practicing my power with all this down time and found that if I made eye contact with someone just once, I can read their mind at any time I like." She replied.
"I see." I murmured.
Kiara didn't turn away this time. She stood there, probably sensing that there was something more I wanted to say.
