I stormed through the halls barely containing my anger at the idiotic brunette that was ruining all my plans.
“Out of my way!” I yelled at a group of annoying third years who were hanging out in the hallways like this was the kid zone. I managed to make it to the headmasters office in record time and slammed open his door seething still. Blaise was in the headmasters chair and jumped up at being intruded on.
“What the…”
“Out. Now. You can finish your whining about failing another class tomorrow I have business with the headmaster.” I snapped angrily shoving him out of the room and slamming the door in his face.
“I hope this is important Severus? We were having an important conversation.” The headmaster said with a sigh leaning back in his chair waiting to hear my explanation.
“She’s in love with Weasley.” I said angrily pacing the room again in the familiar path I took when I was stressed.
“She as in…as in Granger?” He asked shocked.“Well of course old man. Who else? I’m supposed to be making her bond with me, and she’s over there kissing Weasley! Its unfathomable what she sees in that redheaded, stubborn, self-centered fool. Don’t get me wrong. I know I’m not personable. I’m good looking though and she was eating out of the palm of my hands. She was so into it…then she goes around and kisses him! I swear she did it just to make me angry.” I ranted until I felt the anger starting to lessen up and I plopped down in the chair opposite of the headmaster.
He adjusted his half moon spectacles and watched me bemused.
“I think you misunderstand her intentions Severus.” He said confidently.
“Misunderstood what? She had her tongue down the imbeciles throat!” I retorted hotly. He rolled his eyes and gave me his trademark smile.
“Severus. She was just in here a few hours ago for having punched him. I hardly think its love.” He confessed enjoying himself quite a lot. My anger died down even more.
“Is that so?”“Yes.” I was quiet realizing perhaps I had jumped to conclusions too fast.
“I’m sorry for barging in, I just thought…I wasn’t thinking clearly.” I said for once not being fully composed. Something about her made me loose my composure.“Obviously. Nevermind that. You need to stop worrying about her daily activities and focus on the bigger picture of getting her to bond with you.” He advised as if I hadn’t already considered this.
“She wants me to teach her how to make spells. I found her creeping in the dark arts section of the bookstore trying to learn by herself.” I said grumpily. The headmaster grabbed me a coffee cup and tapped his wand to it filling it with hot chocolate before handing it to me which I accepted with a shaky hand.
“The urge to do more advanced and unbound magic will only get stronger the longer she puts it off. I think learning to control the power surge she will have will be important to prevent anyone from getting hurt.” He explained kindly looking me up and down.
“I take it you were with Voldemort?” He asked sympathetically having noticed my shaking from the crucio curse after effects.
“He wanted to know why the feeling of her magic was weaker around me, not stronger. He was unpleased.” I explained not wanting to go into detail about the hour of torture I endured. The headmaster nodded understanding. He got up and poured some bourbon in my drink for me.“Take the edge off.” He said before pouring himself his own nightcap. I drank it slowly letting the warmth ease my aching muscles.
“I think you need to woo her Severus. You’re a ladies man, I hear about a new girl every week for you. You don’t do commitment.” He said matter of factly.
“Well with my job its unwise for me to have a relationship.” I said staunchly. I knew it was more than that though.“I understand. But you can’t use the same tactics with Granger as you would a one night stand. You have to be kind to her. Woo her.” He explained as if this should be common knowledge.
“I HAVE been kind. I haven’t insulted her recently.” I retorted annoyed he would assume I’m so stupid. He sighed and rolled his eyes.
“Severus, not insulting is not the same thing as showing genuine affection and sweeping her off her feet.” I couldn’t deny he had a point.
“She views you as her cold uncaring professor. You have to change how she perceives you if you want to have any chance of bonding with her.”
I drank my hot chocolate considering his words. He was right. I had crossed the line of decency, but she hadn’t really. She hadn’t opened up at all let alone let her guard down.
“I will consider it. Your advice is helpful as always.” I said finishing the hot chocolate and giving him his cup back, my hands shaking slightly less now.
“Your welcome. Get some sleep Severus.”
