I woke up panicked. The dream had been so vivid, so realistic it seemed like I had actually been there. My heart was racing and I knew something was wrong. It was hard to explain, but I was confident that something had happened to Snape.
I went to the common room and the only person there was Ron unfortunately.“What are you doing down here?” He seemed surprised to see me, but when I got down I noticed he was not alone. Lavender was at his feet reading a story to him from her gossip column.
“I need to see the Headmaster.” I said curtly. Lavender perked up curious closing her magazine.
“Ron, why don’t you go with her. It’s not safe to go alone at night, you know.” Lavender said sweetly giving an unwilling Ron a shove.
“I’m fine.” I insisted, but by the time I got out of the common rooms Lavender had shoved Ron after me.
“Ow! Okay women. Bloody hell.” He said gruffly, still following me like an obedient puppy. We walked in a quick silence for a while and I assumed we wouldn’t talk at all which was fine by me until he broke the silence.
“Look. I’m sorry about the things I said. I was jealous. Lavender said I can be a jerk sometimes.” He said finally. I let out a snort of amusement.
“Sometimes?” He rolled his eyes but grinned at the joke.
“Fine. Most of the time.” He agreed. I nodded accepting the second apology hoping he left it at that this time.
“Why are we going to the Headmasters anyways?” Ron asked curiously thankfully changing subject.
“Snape’s in trouble I think.” I said hoping he didn’t blow up. He just nodded.
“Not surprised with how much crazy stuff he gets up to. Double spy and all. One of these times, he’s going to get himself killed.” Ron said having no idea how much that idea stressed me out. I didn’t even know why it stressed me out.
When we got to the Headmasters office he gave me a hug goodnight and left me, our friendship on much better terms it seemed.
The moment I got into the headmasters office I felt my panic starting to come back. He was awake, but in long flowing pajama like robes as opposed to his normal robes. I had to wonder if the old man ever slept.“To what do I owe this pleasure?” He asked me giving Fawks a note he had just finished writing with his quill.
“I think Professor Snape is in trouble.” I said biting my lip hoping I wasn’t completely mad.
“Why?” He asked me not giving any indication if he thought it was a valid concern or not.
“Well, I had this dream. A very vivid dream. It was mainly blackness, but he was there. It was like…like I was in his mind or something. He seemed happy and that in itself was just weird. We were dancing and…” I trailed off since he had jumped up, grabbing his wand and rushing around me. I had to run to keep up.
“What does it mean Headmaster?” I asked him a bit panicked at how upset he seemed.
“I don’t know.” He said simply. He sent a patronus towards Snape’s rooms, but headed towards the front doors anyways. Seconds later his patronus was back shaking its head no.
I heard him cursing under his breath and knew if he wasn’t in his rooms, he was most likely with Voldemort. What I had seen...it meant he was going within himself to escape something. Pain most likely. I thought to Neville's parents and hoped that wasn’t the case.
We got to the front doors and froze. There he was. Standing against the side of the front doors, shaking and pale as death. His eyes locked with mine and I felt my heart leap.
