I glared at her in the hallway hating myself for  the darkness I introduced her to.
I inhaled her lavender scent trying not to let myself dwell on how perfect it smelled. She couldn’t be with me. She was innocent and sweet and everything that I wasn’t.
My arm burned and I quickly left her needing to get away before she realized. I couldn’t let something so bright and full of life be burned by something so dark and evil.

I got my robes and mask as quickly as possible before heading out.

When I entered his throne room I immediately bowed down kneeling at his feet and kissing the hem of his robe obediently hoping tonight wouldn’t be another bad one.

“Severus. Up.” He hissed looking down on me from his throne. I obediently got up and looked at him trying to read his mood. Sometimes he would just start torturing with little to no reason when he was in a bad mood. Today though he seemed calm looking at me thoughtfully toying with his wand.

“You have done well bringing the Granger girl to me. I was hoping Lucius would take the hints and bring her, but I anticipated it being harder than it was. He said she was in your office when he arrived.” He said surprising me in more than one way. He had planned her being kidnapped? It was a setup?

“Yes. Detention.” I explained evenly wondering where he was going with this.
“I was thoroughly impressed by her self control. Not screaming after nearly an hour being tortured? I have never seen anything like it before.” The dark lord mused glancing at quickly book on a small table near his throne.

“Yes, very curious indeed. I decided to do a little digging. First into Grangers history. Did you know that she has empaths in both her mom and dads bloodlines?” He asked me. I shook my head having thought she was just a random genetic fluke.

“I had no idea she had any magic in her lines.” I said honestly. It never mattered to me. I could tell it meant everything to him though.

“Old dear Dumbledore has an empath right under his nose and didn’t even know it. Not so brilliant now, is he? Brightest witch of our age. Except she’s no ordinary witch. Her DNA is from an entirely different branch of witches and wizards that died out thousands of years ago. Or so I thought. It seems she somehow managed to get both copies of her families recessive genes.” He said getting pleasure out of having one upped the headmaster.

“You think Granger is an empath? There’s no evidence to support that Dark Lord. She talented sure, but there would be other signs… not to mention there hasn’t been one in many generations.” I said shaking my head wondering if he lost it. His sneer grew in darkness and humor.

“Oh,  but I do. I have you.” He said standing up stalking to me dangerously. I didn’t fear many things in life, but I felt more than a twinge of fear piecing together where this was going.

“You see my faithful servant. I have noticed changes in you. Your temper has been more erratic lately. I can feel her energy pulsing around yours not mingling, just dancing with it taunting me. The moment she came of age I knew she was one.” He said reaching out to touch me but stopping just short. I knew some wizards could feel power, but he had never admitted he was one. It made sense now why he was obsessed with purity. People who could feel the power usually became obsessed with it, feeling the many varieties and temperaments of magic.

“You think she is trying to bond with ME?” I asked with a sarcastic chuckle. It was ludacris.

“She hates me.” I said with absolute conviction. The Dark Lord chuckled sitting back down.

“She’s drawn to you and hates herself for it. The headmasters pet bonding with a death eater? Oh that’s scandalous for sure. But the other night, she melted right into your hand. Every inch of her wants to bond with you, you guys are both just fighting it.” He said tapping his wand slowly on the throne as if considering what to do with me next. I swallowed thickly hoping he wouldn’t just outright kill me. I would never have willingly allowed her to bond with me and betray him. It put us both in peril.
