The next day
Anna POV: I smile as I walk with Kitty to the bus stop. The others were setting up a surprise party. So I had to distract her. She skips along holding my hand, her eyes bright and happy. She had been holding my hand since we left because she didn't want guys to flirt with her.
"What'll you decide on then?"
"Maybe a teddy from build a bear. Or some books. Ooh maybe some art supplies. Or a nice dress in case we go somewhere nice for dinner in Düsseldorf"
"Why not all of that?" I say and she gasps.
"Really?"
"Yeah!" The bus comes and we get on, Kitty adorably running up to sit at the front on the top deck. I sit beside her and watch as she looks out the window smiling. Her smile was the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. Sunshine practically shone from her face.
"Anna look at that dog!"Skiiiiip
Anne POV: Lina was being weirdly nice to me ever since she yelled at me. Right now she was holding the ladder steady while I put up a banner. She told me she loved me. But she didn't address it anymore after that. Thing is...I like her. Like a lot. I get the banner up and climb down, blushing when Lina's hand brushes against my side.
"Anne? Can we talk?" I nod and follow her into another room.
"What's this about then?"
"About the um...yelling at you thing. I'm really really sorry and I meant it when I said I love you and I just feel bad for upsetting you and-" I cut her off by kissing her. And she kisses back. Oh my god this is really happening.***
Anna POV: as more people start getting on the bus I notice Kitty's behaviour start to change. She seemed to close off, burrowed into me, pulled my hands over her ears.
"What's wrong? Is it too loud? We can get off at the next stop and walk if you'd like" I say and she nods.
"Don't like it. Too many people" I push the bell and we get off at the next stop. Kitty's grip on my hand tightens as we walk and after a while she starts dragging her feet.
"Annaaaaa can you carry me?" She whines and I nod, helping her climb onto my back. We get to the shopping centre and I smile, letting her slide down so she can walk again.
"Okay then Kitty. Let's get you that teddy" we get to the build a bear and I let go of Kitty's hand so she can look at her options. She stands there holding a unicorn and a cat, clearly getting stressed out as she tries to choose.
"Hey look. There's a buy one get one free offer today" I say, pointing to the sign and her face lights up.
"I can have both?"
"You can have both!" We get them stuffed and she looks at the outfits, picking pyjamas for the unicorn and a ballerina outfit for the cat. Truthfully I would've bought her both even if there wasn't a special offer on. I pay and next it's off to the bookshop. Kitty picks a book series box set about magic kittens and puppies. And our next stop is the art supply place. We get pencils for drawing and colouring and crayons and colouring books and sketch pads and paints and also some paintbrushes.
"Dress shopping now?" Kitty mumbles and I nod.
"Uh huh. I'll wait outside the door of your changing room if that makes you feel safer" I say and she nods, kissing my cheek. I feel myself blush at this and bring her to a shop where she tries a few dresses and when she steps out in a silky pale pink one with a flowing skirt that stopped just below her knees I gasp.
"Wow. You look amazing"
"I really like this one" she says, twirling around and smiling.
"It really suits you" I say and she blushes, going back to change into her own clothes again.***
Kitty POV: something about Anna just makes my heart skip a beat. And gives me butterflies. She's so so nice. And my best friend. I think I'm in love with her. She's just....so incredible. She's different. I think this time might actually be different.
