When the food arrives
Anna POV: we sit down to watch a movie and eat dinner. Kitty looked really happy eating and steals forkfuls of everyone's food.
"Hmm I think Anna's is the nicest out of all of yours. Then Cathy's spaghetti thing. Then Anne's one. Then Janes and sorry Lina yours is my least favourite"
"Oh that's okay. It's an acquired taste- Anne stop stealing my paella"
"I like eating Spanish tho" Anne says with a wink and I snort. Jane and Cathy look shocked. Lina is blushing and Kitty is just confused.
"I don't get it" I lean over and whisper an explanation to her and she gasps.
"Anne! There is a child here! Innocent ears!" Kitty covers her ears and pouts.
Time skip
I can't sleep. I miss home. I wanna go back to Düsseldorf. Not permanently. Just for a while. I lay there wide awake and holding back tears. Think of something else. Anything else. Even anyone else. I sit up and rest my chin on my knees. Hold it in. Just pretend everything's okay. You can't let the others see you're upset. I lay down to go to sleep when there's a soft knocking at my door. I go open it and am surprised to see Cathy standing there.
"I just wanted to check in. You didn't seem like yourself after dinner and I know it seems dumb but I've begun to kinda see you as a little sister. So what's wrong?"
"I miss Germany" I mumble and she hugs me.
"You could've told us. You don't have to hide how you feel okay?" I just nod and try to relax.
"Want me to sit with you until you fall asleep?" I nod and she gets me tucked in and sits down on the bed.
The next morning
I wake up alone but also rested. It was 1pm. Shit. I get dressed and walk downstairs. Nobody was home. And then Kitty comes in from the garden.
"Anna! Come look! We have a pool!" She pulls me outside and everyone else is already swimming and messing around.
"There's swimming gear in your room go look" Jane says and I head upstairs, finding a red one piece on my bed. I change into it and walk downstairs just as Kitty comes out looking nervous in a pink sequinned bikini.
"Pink really suits you" I say and she smiles a little.
"Thanks. And red suits you"
"Heh. Thanks" we head out and get into the pool. It felt nice to just swim around and have fun.
Time skip
Kitty POV: after a lot of swimming we finally have some lunch. Anna was quieter than usual. Maybe she was homesick. I know this is home but she hasn't seen Germany in centuries now so she probably misses it. After lunch we decide to just lounge about and watch a movie. I lean against Anna and she keeps an arm around me while fiddling with her hoodie sleeves. I wriggle around and hug her.
"Thanks Kitty. I needed that" she whispers and I smile up at her.
