Chapter 1~ Time to Settle Down

6:45 AM, September 10th

Phil rolled over to his side and a smile crept on his face when he saw his beautiful wife sleeping peacefully for the first time in a month after her dad was in a severe car crash she had been stressed. He started to kiss her neck softly trying to wake her up so they could start the day even though it was way too early for Phil to be awake. Melinda groaned softly and slowly opened her eyes “Mmm morning Phil” his smile grew a bit “morning mel how’d you sleep”? “Fine you”? “Eh good enough”. After that conversation Phil remained in bed and Melinda got up to start tai chi.

8:00 AM

Melinda had just finished her tai chi and phil had gotten dressed and headed downstairs to make his famous french toast with fresh berries.
Melinda smiled and opened their small closet and picked out black jeans and a loose black sweater. She set the clothes on the bed and went to take a quick shower. She was just about finished when suddenly she felt a wave of nausea she quickly shut the shower off and wrapped herself in the towel then was hunched over the trash can. Another 15 minutes later she flipped over two pregnancy tests.

"oh god i’m pregnant” she smiled happily and immediately got changed into one of phil’s college sweatshirts and some black leggings and hurried downstairs a big smile still plastered on her face. Phil was flipping over the last piece of french toast as he heard Melinda come downstairs she ran over to him and as if it was perfectly timed phil turned around and caught her in his arms “someones happy this morning and don’t tell me it was your shower because we don’t have any hot water”. 

Melinda smiled and kissed him softly on the lips “I just have some really great news plus your french toast always makes my days better” she reached over and took a few blueberries eating them. “Oh yeah well you can share it while we eat” she nodded and grabbed the plates and forks bringing them to the table while Phil brought the food and then he came back with a fresh cup of tea for her and a mug of coffee for himself. They ate in a comfortable silence and once they finished and cleared the table they made their way to their small but comfy couch “OK I can’t wait any longer Phil I have to tell you my news” he just nodded calmly “I’m ready I think” he held her hand gently Melinda took a deep breath before looking up at him “I’m….. I am ummm uh well i’m pregnant” she said slowly searching his eyes for an answer. 

The biggest smile crept up his face and he just picked her up and spun around happily securely holding her in his strong arms “This is amazing! Mel oh my god you're pregnant! I’m gonna be a father” she kissed him deeply wrapping her arm around the nape of his neck “yes Phil we’re gonna be parents ''''I love you so much Mel” he said softly into the crook of her neck “I love you too”. 

Two weeks later

In the two weeks after the young couple found out they were expecting they had had several long discussions about their future because they were currently living in a small apartment in downtown singapore and living off the money both their parents had been giving them since the two didn’t have such high paying jobs. Now they were standing in their empty apartment wrapped in each other's arms looking around “I can’t believe we are moving home to Oregan after four years” Melinda said sighing she had really enjoyed being so far away from everyone living in a big city just her and Phil. They looked around the small room one last time before leaving and heading to the airport once they were on the plane in first class which Phil had decided to surprise his lovely wife with they just watched movies and later slept the rest of the flight away comfortable… even though both were scared for what the future may hold.
