Chapter 6 ~ Wild Ride

   Phil and Melinda were dead tired the first 24 hours with their newborn twin girls proved to be nothing less than difficult. They would wake up every three hours to be fed and Daisy had no problem eating but Julie was proving to have a harder time which was so hard for Mel to watch but she did her best to help the tiny human eat. Phil helped her out every way he could. He was so in love with his little girls whom he called angel eyes they both had his wife’s deep beautiful brown eyes, daisy had his light brown hair and lips with a hint of her mother’s asain eyes and her skin was a perfect blend of her parents. Julie had her mothers darker hair and her fathers eye shape but they were brown like Melinda’s, her nose and skin were a perfect blend of her parents and her mothers lips.

Sunday July 4th

Melinda and Phil had decided they wouldn’t have any visitors until today because they wanted time to just be together and bond with their newborns. Melinda was cooing at Julie rubbing her pinky on the little one's nose. Phil was awake in the bed next to her with Daisy on his chest asleep, her little fist wrapped around his finger. There was a soft knock on the door it was Melinda's mom and dad Mel and Phil both smiled and waved them over to the bed "Rènshí nî de sūnnü" (meet your granddaughters)
"Dái xī lián" (Daisy Lian) Mel said gesturing to the baby Phil was holding "Hé Zhū lì sī kâi" (Julie Skye)  she said gesturing to the baby she held. Lian and William May set down their gift on one of the chairs and stood by them smiling looking at the two baby girls “They’re beautiful Mellie congratulations” her father said then gave his only daughter a hug Lian was silent and just looked between her granddaughters and her daughter she had a small smirk on her face “everything alright Mrs. May” Phil asked after exchanging a look with Melinda.  “ I knew it. I knew Qiaolian would have daughters. She always follows family tradition. She kept saying she was gonna have two sons” the older women scoffed “always trying to defy me”.  After two hours with her parents their friend group came by Mack, Elena,Bobbi, Hunter, Maria, and Fury all bearing gifts for the newborns and taking turns holding both Daisy and Julie “you guys they're so precious you did good” Maria commented giving Phil a slap on the back “we did make some really cute kids” Melinda chimed in watching Maria who was holding Daisy.

They were finally coming home. Phil kissed Melinda’s forehead. They were both extremely exhausted and looked pretty terrible but no one could blame them since they are new parents. When they opened the door they were greeted by Melinda’s mother cooking away in the kitchen “whats going on here” Mel asked, setting down Julie’s baby carrier and picking up her daughter rocking her gently Phil gave her a look doing the same thing with Daisy. “Don’t question my actions Qiaolian I knew you two would be too tired to cook yourselves and you can’t be eating takeout so I’m cooking” Lian scoffed as if it were obvious the two nodded and sat down on the couch. Another half hour went by and now they were all gathered around the table. Lian seemed to be watching Phillip like a hawk while he held his daughter burping her then muttered “ I wouldn’t trust him with caring for a fish let alone a human baby” “Māmā seriously be nice please xie xie” (Thank you) her father chuckled quietly “your mother doesn’t know how to be nice” that earned him a punch to the arm. Her parents cleaned up the kitchen while Phil and Melinda walked around the whole house showing their daughters everything blissfully talking to them though they knew Daisy and Julie had no idea what they were saying and the last room they came to was the nursery.

Melinda walked in first followed by Phil “how do we decide which child gets which side” Phil asked his eyes never leaving Daisy’s face “well it's been 72 hours and we can safely say that even though I shoved them both out with zero painkillers that Daisy likes you better and Julie prefers me so I think Julie goes on my side and Daisy on yours” Phil nodded smirking a bit “yep she’s a daddy’s girl” Melinda shook her head “your such a dork” “your dork” he answered laying Daisy down and Melinda layed Julie down Phil came over and wrapped his arms around her waist “I love you so much” he said and then trailed kisses up her neck and jawline Melinda bit back a groan tilting her head “I love you too” They left the nursery leaving the door ajar and went to their room and got ready for bed Melinda had on a loose hoodie and sweatpants not quite caring how she looks cause she still felt like shit and phil was shirtless and also wore sweatpants. As soon as they both closed their eyes the baby monitor sounded with crying and they knew it wasn’t gonna get any easier.

The next few months that went by were rough after three months Phil went back to work and Melinda continued to stay home spending the whole day taking care of her perfect baby girls there was difficult days when All she wanted to do was curl in a ball and cry. Phil always made it better though he helped her in everyway he could such as changing them and cooking dinner and cleaning around the house Melinda was so thankful for him and she loved watching him with the girls there was something so perfect about Phil Coulson holding a tiny little baby in his arms and it made Melinda's heart swell. They both knew from then on that this life was for them and they would stand by each other through all the challenges sure to come.
